Indian Army is one of the world's largest and most successful: Sri Lankan CDS General Shavendra Silva

General Shavendra Silva, the Chief of Defence Staff of Sri Lanka, gave an inspiring address during the Indian Military Academy's Autumn Passing Out Parade, praising the Indian Army as one of the biggest and most effective armed forces in the world.

“The Indian Army has forged its name, fame, and the respect of people of this country worldwide,” General Silva stated.

He acknowledged the tremendous sacrifices made by Indian soldiers over the years, both in times of peace and conflict, and he praised its officers for their "great thinking, unparalleled sacrifice, and remarkable vision."

The remarks made by General Silva serve as a reminder of the Indian Army's glorious past and its dedication to peace and security. He also underlined how freshly commissioned commanders now have an obligation to uphold the Army's tradition and provide compassionate leadership for their men.

His speech highlights the common principles and dedication to regional stability that the militaries of India and Sri Lanka share, strengthening their relationship. The exchange of information and experience between the two forces would surely improve security in the Indian Ocean region.

General Silva's praise for the Indian Army adds to the growing trust that the rest of the world has in its abilities and professionalism. The Indian Army's commitment and diligence have won them a spot among the most respected armed forces in the world, and this honour is a tribute to that.
