Indian Army Receives Final Delivery of Domestically Produced MPVs

Vehicle Factory Jabalpur (VFJ), a unit of India's Ministry of Defence's Armoured Vehicles Nigam Ltd (AVNL), has successfully completed the delivery of the final batch of Mine Protected Vehicles (MPVs) to the Indian Army.

The vehicles, designed for optimal battlefield protection, were flagged off from the VFJ Jabalpur Unit by the CGM (General Manager) ahead of schedule.

Advanced Protection for Indian Soldiers

The MPV offers superior protection for soldiers in hostile environments. Its monocoque hull and cabin are constructed of high-grade steel alloy, and its distinctive "V" shaped hull deflects energy from mine blasts and ballistic threats. This design also facilitates quick field repairs of vital components like axles.

Power, Mobility, and Versatility

Powered by a HA57 L135/5 turbo-charged and inter-cooled inline diesel engine delivering 135 KW at 2400 rpm, the MPV boasts a 4x4 drivetrain for challenging terrain and enhanced fuel efficiency with a shift-to-4x2 option.

With a gross vehicle weight of 11,880 kg, this machine accommodates a driver, co-driver, and up to 10 soldiers. Depending on the mission, it can be reconfigured to carry a 20-liter drinking water tank.

Enhanced Security and Operational Capability

"The timely delivery of these Mine Protected Vehicles signifies a major boost to the strength and operational capabilities of the Indian Army," said a Defence Analyst.

"These vehicles are vital for ensuring the safety of our soldiers in conflict zones, and their successful development and production are hallmarks of the nation's growing self-reliance in defense manufacturing."

The addition of these MPVs underscores the Indian government's continued commitment to modernizing its armed forces and ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools to succeed in any operational theater.

If it's the last vehicle then India should start work on designing and developing a much better and modern MPV which has a even stronger armour against any high calibre gun fire as well.
