Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir – In a demonstration of its commitment to modernizing its forces, the Indian Army today showcased a range of cutting-edge weaponry and equipment at its Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur.

The display, held alongside the inauguration of four new NCC units, featured advanced artillery systems, state-of-the-art armoured vehicles, and robotic mules designed to enhance the army's operational capabilities in the challenging terrain of Jammu and Kashmir.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Robotic Multi-Utility Legged Equipment (MULE), a robust quadrupedal robot designed for surveillance and logistical support in high-altitude areas. These robotic mules are capable of traversing difficult terrains, including stairs and hills, while carrying payloads of over 15 kg. Equipped with electro-optics and infrared technology, they can identify objects and navigate through various environments, including rivers. This technology will allow the army to conduct surveillance and deliver critical supplies to frontline soldiers without risking human lives.

Also on display was the Special Mobility Vehicle (SMV) Ator, an all-terrain vehicle capable of navigating diverse environments, including dense forests, snow, ice, and water bodies. Manufactured by JSW Gecko in Chandigarh, the Ator N1200 offers superior maneuverability and amphibious capabilities, making it particularly valuable for operations in the challenging terrains of the north-east and Himalayan regions.

The army also introduced a new Indian-made logistics drone with a range of 10 kilometers and a payload capacity of 52 kg. This drone can operate in extreme temperatures and will be instrumental in delivering essential goods and weapons to inaccessible areas, further enhancing the army's logistical capabilities and surveillance operations.

These technological advancements come in response to a recent surge in militant attacks in the region. The robotic mules and Ator vehicles are expected to significantly bolster the army's counter-terrorism efforts by increasing operational efficiency and providing a tactical advantage in challenging terrains.

The integration of these technologies reflects the army's commitment to adapting to modern warfare dynamics and leveraging technology to minimize risks to soldiers while maximizing operational effectiveness.

The weapon and equipment display also served as a platform to raise awareness among the public and NCC cadets about the Indian Army's capabilities, ethos, and commitment to national security.
