Maduru Oya, Sri Lanka - The 10th edition of the India-Sri Lanka Joint Military Exercise 'Mitra Shakti' is currently underway, and the Indian Army's K9 unit is making a significant impact. Among the standout participants is Assault K9 Zac, a Belgian Malinois with an impressive array of specialized skills.
Zac, trained at the Dog Training Faculty in Meerut, is demonstrating exceptional proficiency in tactical operations, including FIBUA, CASO, SADO, jungle search, and area sanitization. The canine soldier is also adept at laser-guided assaults and weapon retrieval.
Furthermore, Zac is equipped with advanced technology like radio-guided directional control and live video transmission, enhancing its capabilities for surveillance and stealth attacks.
These highly-trained K9s play a crucial role as first responders in high-risk counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations, providing a significant advantage to the Indian Army.
Zac's handler, Major Rishi Sharma, emphasizes the dog's value as a "force multiplier" and "first responder." During 'Mitra Shakti', Zac will participate in various activities, including house intervention, jungle searches, laser-guided assaults, and area sanitization.
This showcase of K9 Zac's skills underscores the importance of the Dog Training Faculty in Meerut, which trains over 500 dogs for the Indian Army, including indigenous breeds like the Mudhol Hound and Rajapalayam. The center's commitment to providing comprehensive care for these canine soldiers throughout their service lives is commendable.
