Indian Defence Firms Show Strong Presence at Eurosatory Amidst French Ban on Israeli Companies

A robust delegation of over 30 Indian defence companies is making a significant impact at Eurosatory 2024, a major international defence trade show currently underway in Paris.

The Indian contingent, including prominent public sector undertakings (PSUs) such as Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited, Bharat Electronics Ltd, and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is showcasing a wide range of advanced technologies and products.

This substantial Indian presence is in stark contrast to the absence of Israeli defence firms, which have been banned from the event by the French government. The ban is reportedly due to France's disapproval of recent Israeli military actions in Gaza. In a statement, the French Ministry of Armed Forces cited unsuitable "conditions" for Israeli participation, while President Emmanuel Macron has been vocal in his criticism of the Israeli operations, calling for a ceasefire and respect for international law.

The exclusion of Israeli companies, initially slated to be among the nearly 70 exhibitors, highlights the complex interplay of political considerations and defence trade. While Indian firms are seizing the opportunity to establish themselves on the global stage, Israeli companies like Israel Aerospace Industries and Rafael Advanced Systems are sidelined due to geopolitical tensions.

Eurosatory, running from June 17-21, is one of the largest defence trade shows in Europe, attracting over 1,740 exhibitors from 96 countries. The event provides a crucial platform for showcasing cutting-edge defence technologies and fostering international collaborations.

The strong Indian participation at Eurosatory underlines the growing prominence of the Indian defence industry on the global stage. With a focus on indigenous development and manufacturing, Indian companies are increasingly becoming key players in the international defence market.

The absence of Israeli companies, while a setback for them, underscores the complexities of international relations and their impact on defence trade. It remains to be seen how these developments will shape the future of defence cooperation between France, Israel, and India.

"The French government's decision to ban Israelis from entering the Eurosatory exhibition, one of the largest security events in the world, was canceled after the French court's ruling"
Israel's defense exports hit a five-year record last year.
This was reported by the press service of the country's Ministry of Defense.
It is clarified that defense exports doubled and amounted to about $13.1 billion. Regards... The new weapon: Eurosatori 2024. https://www.twz.com/land/shipping-container-launcher-packing-126-kamikaze-drones-hits-the-market
