NewSpace Research & Technologies (NRT), a prominent aerospace and defense research company in India, is expanding its collaboration efforts with the United States military. NRT recently engaged in discussions with the U.S. Army DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory (ARL) to investigate potential areas of partnership.
Sameer Joshi, CEO of NRT, led the discussions by outlining the company's strategic vision – “#NRT Next Generation Missions & Technologies (NGMT)” – and proposing a strategic roadmap for collaborative development projects.
These efforts demonstrate a clear alignment with the shared goal of strengthening military cooperation between India and the United States, as prioritized by both the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the United States Department of Defense.
NRT's commitment to collaboration with the US is not new. The company already holds a Cooperative Research & Development Agreement (CRADA) with the US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).
To further deepen these ties, NRT is actively pursuing opportunities to work with American research institutions and industrial partners under the India-US Defense Acceleration Ecosystem (IndUSX) initiative. This program, jointly led by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and the Indian iDEX - DIO (Defence Innovation Organisation), is designed to facilitate collaboration and co-development initiatives between the two countries.
NRT's exploration of a partnership with the US Army marks India's increasing emphasis on international collaboration for the development of cutting-edge defense technologies. This approach aims to foster innovation, giving Indian and US forces access to advanced military capabilities.
