In a gesture of goodwill and a focus on training, the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy ships Bushehr and Tonb recently docked in Mumbai for a four-day visit.
Commanded by Commander Mahdi Balvardi and Commander Mohammad Hajizadeh respectively, the ships carried 240 officer cadets as part of a training flotilla. Mission Commander Captain Hasan Beygi led the delegation.
Upon their arrival on March 15th, the Iranian vessels received a traditional Indian welcome, highlighting the significance of the occasion. The emphasis on training is evident with the presence of officer cadets who gained valuable hands-on experience during the voyage.

The visit was marked by high-level meetings aiming to strengthen ties between the Indian and Iranian navies. Mission Commander Beygi, the Commanding Officers, and Iranian Defence Attaché Colonel Hasan Momeni met with Rear Admiral CR Praveen Nair, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet (FOCWF).These discussions likely addressed areas of mutual interest and explored potential avenues for future cooperation.
The visit extended beyond formalities to prioritize building camaraderie and cultural exchange. Social events were organized, and an educational tour of the Mumbai Naval Dockyard for the Iranian cadets fostered a deeper understanding between the personnel of both nations.
