Security around Karnataka BJP office in Bengaluru has been ramped up following the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) claim in the chargesheet in Rameshwaram Cafe blast case that the four accused had made a failed attempt to bomb the saffron party's office in Malleshwaram on January 22.

The chargesheet exposed a chilling plot for an IED attack at Karnataka BJP office to coincide with the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.

"Following the revelation in the chargesheet in the cafe blast case, we have significantly ramped up security measures around the BJP office," a senior police officer said on Wednesday.

Usually, the BJP office is guarded by plainclothes officers and a 25-member Karnataka State Reserve Police team. But now, security has been intensified with additional personnel, and officers have been instructed to scrutinise every entry and exit point with heightened vigilance, an officer said.

New security protocols include the installation of metal detectors, door scanners, and an expanded CCTV network to ensure every corner of the premises is monitored.

The Rameshwaram Cafe explosion on March 1 had left nine people injured and left a trail of destruction. The NIA's chargesheet was filed on September 9.

The chargesheet revealed that the masterminds behind these attacks were ISIS radicals.

The NIA has named Mussavir Hussain Shazib, Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taaha, Maaz Muneer Ahmed, and Muzammil Shareef as the key culprits in a Bengaluru court. All four are currently in judicial custody.

The NIA's investigation showed that Taaha and Shazib were funded by their handler through cryptocurrency, which Taaha converted into cash via Telegram-based peer-to-peer platforms.
