Central Intelligence agencies have revealed a significant shift in the landscape of terror networks operating in Punjab. Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Sandhu, alias Landa, and Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terrorist Harvinder Singh Sandhu, alias Rinda, are no longer collaborating.

Rinda has now formed a new syndicate with US-based Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, focusing on raising terror modules and executing terror activities in Punjab.

This intelligence was recently discussed during a meeting between the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and police officials from Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi. Officials indicate this split stems from differing motives: Landa leans towards pro-Khalistani activities, whereas Rinda prioritizes drug peddling and arms distribution.

Passia, who illegally entered the US in 2021, joined forces with Rinda in 2023. Their association has led to the formation of numerous terror modules in Punjab. In a proactive response, Punjab police have successfully neutralized eight such modules between August 2023 and August 2024, apprehending 35 individuals and verifying 546 others connected to the Rinda-Passia network.

Landa, currently residing in Canada, is a prime suspect in the 2022 RPG attack on the Punjab State Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali. The NIA has announced a reward of Rs 15 lakh for information leading to his arrest. His criminal record includes various charges related to terror activities, extortion, and smuggling.

Rinda, associated with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), is believed to be operating from Lahore, Pakistan, under the patronage of cross-border agencies. Notably, he is linked to the high-profile Sidhu Moosewala murder case of 2022, currently under investigation by the NIA.

Landa and Rinda had previously collaborated, carrying out terror incidents in Punjab since 2022. However, their recent split highlights the evolving dynamics of terror networks in the region. Security agencies remain vigilant in countering these threats and safeguarding national security.
