Ministry of Home Affairs Implements Measures to Expedite Post-Blast Investigations and Enhance National Security

In response to the difficulties and delays encountered during post-blast investigations in several states, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has taken measures. Investigations into explosions of national importance have suffered due to these delays, which have hindered the work of the National Security Guard (NSG).

This message was just sent out to every state and stresses the need for swift action and timely reporting to central officials. In the past, some states have not notified the Centre promptly, which has caused delays in the NSG's intervention and possibly resulted in the loss of important forensic evidence.

The MHA has also emphasised how important it is to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) strictly when conducting Post-Blast Investigations (PBI) into bomb and IED explosions. In order to enable prompt investigation by the NSG National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC), this SOP requires instantaneous notification of blast information to both the MHA Control Room and the NSG.

The objective of these steps is to expedite the post-blast investigation process by ensuring the timely collection and analysis of crucial data, which will ultimately result in more efficacious investigations and enhanced national security.
