The official account of the Pakistan Air Force, DGPR (AIR FORCE), recently released a video clip featuring Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, NI (M). The clip generated significant buzz as it depicted ACM Sidhu in the cockpit of a newly acquired J-10CE combat aircraft.

But that’s not all. The video also offered a glimpse of the much-anticipated Chinese FC-31, a fifth-generation fighter jet. This inclusion is seen as a strong indication of Air Chief Marshal Sidhu’s commitment to spearheading the modernization drive of the Pakistan Air Force.

While ACM Sidhu has recently expressed the PAF’s intent to acquire the FC-31, it’s important to note that the aircraft is still under development. However, the video hints at a potential collaboration similar to the JF-17 program, where China provided technology for local production in Pakistan.

This development suggests a growing partnership between China and Pakistan in the aviation sector. The FC-31’s potential integration into the PAF arsenal signifies a significant leap in Pakistani airpower capabilities, especially considering its fifth-generation classification.

I really do not believe FC-31 is a true blue 5th generation fighter aircraft. At best it is a 4.5 Gen aircraft clad in a stealthy shell.
Should we be alarmed?
Yes, we should be. Anything that replenishes our enemy is a cause of concern.
But, our response shouldn't be a knee-jerk reaction to whatever it is that PaF acquires. Our reaction should be tuned to face an adversal China. Checkmate the Chinese and the Pakistanis will keep themselves in check.

The SU-30MKIs, Rafales, and Tejas IA with AESA type of radars can detect most of those fighters.

But the problems will arise with Jaguars without Israeli AESA radars, Mirage-2000UPG, and Mig-29UPG with no AESA type of radars will have trouble as PAF can see them first and shoot their poor quality chinese made long range BVRAAMs creating hazards for IAF.

IAF must upgrade all with latest AESA radars and equip them with Astra I BVRAAM missile and possibly with the upcoming Astra II BVRAAM missile.
IAF must make feasibility studies of equipping UTTAM AESA radars and these missiles on all of these fighters.

No worries as Astras and AESA radars are coming soon.
SU-30MKI is already testing one to be specific.

Where is the money? Good question. ACM Sidhu will most probably mortgage his “ang Vishesh (where the sun never shines)” to get these aircraft’s, as the whole country has already been mortgaged and only “ang Vishesh” is remaining to be mortgaged.

Pakistan has already become a fully owned subsidiary of china. It is totally dependent on china. Last year Chinese military exports in total declined but exports to pakistan increased. Pakistan made up 65% of china's military exports last year. In future this is only going to increase. We should keep focus on china, pakistan will be taken care of automatically

We have to recognize that Pakistani Military's defence procurement & development plans are very realistic.

I think it will be better if Indian-Govt encourages a JV b/w IAF & IN to invest in:-

1. TEDBF (ORCA)
2. AMCA

This will insure Logistical synergy & scale of Economy in the long run & will allow India to rapidly achieve it's desired squadron strength as well as increase it as per requirements.

With both PAF & PLAAF's growth, IAF may need a total of 60-Squadrons (Combat) by the year 2050.

It's a tactic used by PAF forcing IAF into immediate acquisition of some imported 5th gen fighters. As far as now, IAF or Government of India hasn't fallen into that trap and is continuing on AMCA. Hope HAL gets it's act right on time

It's mostly loan, Chinese will give there toys on pay later clause( which they know Pakistan cannot) and force them to mortgage some part of their country for 99 years lease. IMF is also smart where they are giving these loans but tracking them so that it doesn't go to the Chinese.

I believe it's more abit advance than AMCA... Why? It's because they already testing it for many years and polishing it before an order scale production for Pakistan and it's future order of its own by China.... While our own AMCA is no where near to be found.... No physical prototype, never ending update of specs that why it's always gets delay again and again, we get awestruck with CGI only that why most of our diehard patriots are now becoming delulu 🙀
