Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar seemed to shift his stance on the United States (US) move to designate The Resistance Front (TRF) as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT).
Dar said at an event in Washington, DC on Friday that Pakistan has “no issue” with the US designation; however, he reiterated that linking TRF with Lashkar-e-Taiba is “wrong.”
In April, Dar told Pakistan’s Parliament that Islamabad successfully blocked references to TRF in a UN Security Council resolution condemning the Pahalgam attack. “We resisted TRF’s inclusion in the UNSC statement and prevailed despite pressure from global capitals,” he said, noting that Pakistan required more evidence of TRF’s activities at the time. Responding to a question from Hindustan Times at the Washington event, Dar reiterated that no sufficient proof against TRF was available to justify its mention in the UNSC statement.
“So, if it [TRF] is an independent entity…the US authorities have any evidence that they were involved [in Pahalgam attack], we have no objection to that,” Dar said.
