Philippines Gears Up For First Batch of BrahMos Missiles As New Base Readied

India is preparing to deliver a long-awaited shipment of BrahMos anti-ship cruise missiles to the Philippines, signaling a landmark step in the deepening defence ties between the two nations. This first batch of advanced missiles is expected to reach its destination by the end of April.

Delayed Delivery, Strategic Purpose

While initially planned for late 2023, the delivery was delayed to facilitate the construction of a dedicated new base in the Philippines, tailored to accommodate the BrahMos missile batteries.

Responsibility for transporting the missiles and ground equipment rests with the BrahMos Corporation, a joint venture between India and Russia.

Bolstering Philippine Defence Capabilities

The Philippines stands as the first international buyer of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, a highly maneuverable weapon system renowned for its exceptional speed.

The acquisition dramatically enhances the Philippines' maritime defence capabilities, particularly in the contentious waters of the South China Sea.

India's Growing Role and Regional Impact

This landmark arms sale underscores India's expanding influence as a defence exporter and solidifies its commitment to fostering strategic partnerships within the Indo-Pacific region. Regional security dynamics are likely to be affected as this cooperation strengthens.

A New Era in the Defence Partnership

The BrahMos missile deployment marks the start of a new era in India-Philippines defence collaboration.

Further developments, including possible joint exercises and expanded military cooperation, will likely play a crucial role in shaping a safer maritime environment in the region.

Observers will be closely watching how this evolving partnership influences the complex regional security landscape.

Great but few brahmos batteries won't be enough to deter Chinese PLA Navy. They need advanced SAM systems (Project Kusha), Maritime strike aircraft (Tejas Mk-2/AMCA), AIP equipped attack submarines etc....

Yeah, military system is like drugs. You start with weed, and with time to progress to harder and harder drugs like cocaine and finally to heroine and fentanyl lol.

Brahmos is a pretty expensive system. So armenia and african countries is out of the question. Targeting south east asian countries, middle east will be best option. Eutopeans are hooked on NATO standard equipment. I doubt they have interest in brahmos. But they can be sold ATAGS and truck mounted howitzer since they fire NATO standard 155mm shells. The demand is through the roof in europe right now.

They are already in the process of acquiring SSKs. Their plan is to acquire 3 AIP-equipped SSKs, and it seems to be a three-way fight between the KSS-III, AIP Scorpene, and the S80 Plus.

I think the Greeks have decided in principle to go for Brahmos system to counter the Turks.

I think he should not get our hopes too high. India needs to pull some strings, maybe grease a few palms. It is standard in deals like these. Greeks also know how important this deal is, as it will open european market for India for major arms deals. They will drive a hard bargain.

Tejas mk2 and AMCA are just advance aircraft on paper specs only... The Koreans would easily woooh them with their kf21 Boramae mk1 because it's ready for production than own Tejas mk2 or AMCA that is no where near to be found 😹😹😹

Indeed it is. Essentially, these submarines will receive an AIP plug with the MESMA AIP system. The Philippines may also go for the same type of submarine soon, if their sources are to be believed.

Lol if and when AMCA comes we shldnt sell it to other countries. Does America sell their F22 or does China sell their J20?

And finally a very painful death.

The US does sell the F-35, and China is expected to sell the FC-31. In any case, even if the F-22 were for sale, practically no one except Japan would actually buy them, given their astronomical costs.

Nah Philippines can't afford to buy a AIP technology from other except from Spanish or from Koreans.... Why??? Spain formerly colonize Philippines and both have good relationship as they both see that the 2 country's are integral part of it's culture and history... Unlike us who's erasing all the other existence of Indian minority culture of other religions and distancing ourselves and not embracing that they are part of India's uniqueness for example British Empire just a small kingdom without us 😹😹😹.... On the other hand Korean's owes their freedom from the bravery of Philippines when they voluntarily help them fight against COMMUNIST NORTH, so they will do anything to give back from Philippines even though they would sell it discounted price or subsidize by its own government
