S-400 Delivery To India Further Delayed By 2 Years Due To Ukraine War

India's plan to strengthen its air defense capabilities with the Russian S-400 missile system has faced a significant setback. Russia has informed India that the delivery of the remaining two squadrons of the advanced long-range system will be delayed until August 2026 - two years beyond the original 2024 deadline.

The delay is a direct consequence of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Russia's prioritization of its own military requirements has led to a necessary revision of the S-400 delivery schedule for India. To date, India has received three of the five squadrons covered in the original agreement.

The S-400, with its 400-kilometer range and effectiveness against a variety of aerial threats, represents a major upgrade to India's air defense capabilities. However, the delay highlights the potential impact of global conflicts on international arms agreements.
