Kolkata, India – In a move that further strengthens the robust defence relationship between India and Seychelles, the Seychelles Coast Guard vessel, PS Zoroaster, has docked at the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) in Kolkata for a scheduled refit.
The vessel's arrival follows its active participation in the recently concluded multinational exercise MILAN-24 held in Visakhapatnam last month. This refit underscores India's unwavering support for Seychelles in maintaining a well-equipped and capable Coast Guard force. It's important to note that India gifted the PS Zoroaster to Seychelles in 2021, a testament to the deep maritime cooperation between the two countries.
The decision to carry out the refit at GRSE highlights the growing strategic partnership between India and Seychelles. This collaboration is crucial for enhancing regional maritime security and stability in the Indian Ocean region.
The PS Zoroaster plays a vital role in Seychelles' maritime security operations, including anti-piracy patrols, search and rescue missions, and safeguarding the nation's exclusive economic zone. India's enduring support for Seychelles through naval cooperation initiatives like this refit solidifies its position as a reliable and strategic partner in the Indian Ocean region.
