A recent viral video from Exercise Tarang Shakti 2024, a major multilateral air exercise hosted in India, has captured the attention of aviation enthusiasts worldwide.

The footage showcases a simulated breathtaking aerial duel between a Eurofighter Typhoon and an Indian Air Force Su-30MKI, highlighting the remarkable capabilities of both aircraft.

In the heart-pounding sequence, the Typhoon aggressively maneuvers, attempting to gain a crucial radar lock on the Su-30MKI.

However, in a display of exceptional agility, the Indian fighter jet executes a sharp right-hand turn, successfully evading the Typhoon's lock-on attempt.

This impressive maneuver underscores the Su-30MKI's renowned supermaneuverability, a critical asset in close-quarters aerial combat, also known as Within Visual Range (WVR) dogfights.

The viral dogfight video serves as a reminder of the enduring importance of close-combat engagements, which test the limits of aircraft maneuverability, pilot skill, and split-second decision-making.

The Su-30MKI, equipped with thrust-vectoring engines, is capable of performing high-angle-of-attack maneuvers that few other aircraft can match, establishing its reputation as a formidable adversary in WVR scenarios.

Meanwhile, the Eurofighter Typhoon, boasting advanced avionics and powerful engines, is a world-class fighter jet excelling in both BVR (Beyond Visual Range) and WVR combat.

Exercise Tarang Shakti 2024, encompassing both BVR and close-combat dogfights, demonstrated the diverse range of aerial combat scenarios faced by modern air forces.

The successful participation of the Eurofighter Typhoon and the Su-30MKI in this exercise highlights the value of international cooperation and knowledge exchange in the realm of military aviation.

It also serves as a testament to the continuous evolution of fighter jet technology and the unwavering dedication of pilots who push the boundaries of aerial combat.

Euro fighter has not used its meteor BVR before the dog fight could commence. Such big bird like SU30 MKI is a sitting duck for the EF AESA radar. Don’t think EF would have exercised all its options

You know that in real life the Typhoon pilot just turns their head and looks at the enemy plane to lock onto it right?
