Former Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief, Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) R.K.S. Bhadauria, has given a strong endorsement of India's Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas program, highlighting its crucial role in advancing the nation's aerospace capabilities.

Bhadauria, who also served as a test pilot for the Tejas, expressed unwavering confidence in the fighter jet, praising its reliability, performance, and operational versatility.

Beyond its capabilities as a fighter platform, Bhadauria emphasized the Tejas program's transformative impact on India's defence manufacturing sector. He pointed to key technological advancements achieved during the program's development, such as fly-by-wire control systems, composite airframes, and advanced avionics, as crucial milestones in India's journey towards self-reliance in aerospace technology.

These advancements, he argued, have laid the groundwork for the development of more sophisticated fighter jets like the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) and the Twin Engine Deck-Based Fighter (TEDBF).

The IAF has already inducted the Tejas into its frontline squadrons, where it has proven its ability to perform diverse roles, including air superiority, ground attack, and reconnaissance missions.

Bhadauria, who played a key role in securing the contract for 83 Tejas Mk1A aircraft, highlighted the jet's cost-effectiveness and high indigenous content, aligning with India's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (self-reliant India) initiative.

This endorsement from the former IAF Chief underscores the significance of the LCA Tejas program, not just as a successful fighter jet platform but as a catalyst for India's burgeoning aerospace ecosystem.

The program has significantly boosted India's capacity to design and produce next-generation fighter aircraft, marking a significant step towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing and establishing a strong foundation for future advancements in aerospace technology.

Find each and every component however small it may and make in India. India can develop the engine by joint effort through the smaller industry partners , each company achieving their bit with excellence with a new combusted just developed and develop the state of art high altitude lab and a flying test bed with a old airbus A 380 and use it for testing the engines. In 3-4 years realistically you can achieve a reliable engine , work further to improve to get some additional thrust to be self sufficient. The engine project must come under PMO as it should get the funding.

Then sell 36 Rafales to Greece or Ukraine and get 130-150 Tejas for that money $10Bln.

No doubt tejas is a great combat fighter based on experience and doctorine it was design for.. It may not be marvel for many but for every experienced player this is one of the essential bike that should be in arsenal.. Most importantly this is first step of initiation of great line of combat aircraft.. Har kisi ne kahin na kahin se shuru kiya.. Jab hamara aarambh itna prachand hai to bhavishye automatically acha hoga..

180 Tejas for 10 billion USD? Just what are you smoking, exactly?

Firstly, show me one nation willing to buy 36 second-hand Rafales for 10 billion USD, which, mind you, is almost as much as we paid for them to start with.

Secondly, a new Tejas Mk 1A is costing us a bit north of 80 million USD before you factor in ground infrastructure or spares. Assuming we didn't buy any of those, 10 billion USD (assuming you could, by some miracle, get that much) would get you, at best, 120 Tejas Mk 1As, and the actual number would be closer to 100 due to inflation and the USD-INR exchange rates.

The confidence exuded by the former Air Chief clearly reflects India's ability to come up with a quality fighter jet of international standard.

The jet is a brilliant combination of science and engineering with very good technology and capabilities.

36+26 Rafales will be used against Pakistan like Mirage in the future, after Navy buys 26 Rafales, that will be the end of Rafale’s in the Indian Military, super 30 and Tejas will form the backbone along with 114 su-57 until AMCA becomes available.

I don’t believe GOI quit FGFA program, I still have a feeling that AMCA will be based on SU-57 or it’s variant.

The designs are totally different.
If you google for FGFA, the FGFA design back then before there was foreign propaganda news that India quit 5th gen program with Russia, looks exactly like the current AMCA design which means FGFA is supposed to look totally different from SU-57 but use the same internal design and the mechanics.

Replacing F-404 with AL-31FP and increasing internal fuel size by 100kg extra, will make a new LCA, which will be even superb.

Tejas fighter jet program is pride of India ,We must make 205 Tejas-1A , 205 Tejas-Af-II, 145+ internal weapon bay variant of Tejas-AF-II ! It will be good if we make GE-404 enhanced 90KN and GE-414- 114Kn engines here in India
