Armenia Acquired Three Variants of Pinaka Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) System from India

In a historic move for Indian defence exports, Armenia has procured three advanced variants of the indigenously developed Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher (MBRL) system. The deal, valued at approximately US$265 million (Rs 2,000 crore), marks the first international sale of the Pinaka system.

Satyanarayan Nandlal Nuwal, Chairman of Solar Industries India Limited, a key manufacturer of the Pinaka, confirmed the landmark deal. Armenia's order, placed last year, includes four Pinaka batteries alongside other defence equipment.

The Pinaka system comes in three primary variants:

• Pinaka Mk-I: The baseline model delivers reliable firepower with a range of 37.5 kilometers.
• Pinaka Mk-I Enhanced: This upgraded variant extends the range to 45 kilometers.
• Guided Pinaka: The most sophisticated version offers precision-guided strikes at a range of up to 75 kilometers.

Nuwal highlighted the Pinaka system's cost-effectiveness as a major selling point. Its competitive advantage has attracted significant interest from other nations, who are now in discussions with Solar Industries for potential purchases.

This breakthrough deal solidifies India's growing ambitions as a major defence exporter. It represents a watershed moment for the country's defence industry and opens new avenues for international cooperation.

Armenia does not need these weapons, because as soon as Azerbaijan will start the attack, Armenian troops will run away leaving behind all Indian weapons.

The only solution is that Armenia should recruit retired Indian soldiers as advisers and also recruit Indian youths as their permanent soldiers to train and give moral support to the Armenian soldiers during war.

Armenia needs atleast 25000 Indian troops.

many european countries are already buying minor defence equipment from us, like ammuniation and artillery shells, bulletproof jackets, helmets etc. But selling major equipment like howitzers, rocket systems and jets is another thing. Our tech is not battle tested and is relatively new, so it is not famous. Maybe in a decade, we would have better reputation.

Chest thumping of export order is good but there must be some extent of conditions about ordering details. So that the purchasing country have some extent of strategic advantage over the adversary regarding its deployment.
