China-Pakistan Developing Enlarged Version of JF-17 to Field Against India's Tejas MkII

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is reportedly working with Chinese partners to develop a significantly upgraded version of its JF-17 fighter jet, known as the JF-17 PFX. Recent reports suggest this new variant could be significantly larger than the current JF-17, with a Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) potentially comparable to India's Tejas MkII program, which is estimated at around 17.5 tons.

This increase in size and weight would position the JF-17 PFX in a different weight class compared to the current JF-17 and the Tejas Mk1A, both of which have MTOWs around 13,500 kg. The Tejas MkII represents a significant step up in capabilities from its predecessor, and it's speculated that the JF-17 PFX might follow a similar trajectory.

While the PAF has yet to officially confirm the details of the JF-17 PFX program, this development signals its commitment to the continued evolution of the JF-17 platform. If the project delivers on the speculated capabilities, it could mark a new era for the JF-17, potentially placing it on par with other advanced fighter jets in the region and allowing Pakistan to counter India's upcoming Tejas MkII.

However, the true nature of the JF-17 PFX remains shrouded in secrecy. Official details are pending, leaving many questions unanswered. Will the JF-17 PFX truly mirror the Tejas MkII's growth, or will it chart its own course? What specific capabilities and technologies will it incorporate? How will this new variant impact the balance of airpower in the region?

These questions remain unanswered for now, but the JF-17 PFX program undoubtedly represents a significant development in the ongoing evolution of Pakistani airpower. The world will be watching closely as more details emerge about this ambitious project.

If delay culture persist among HAL and Gobermen then even Pakistan will outmanuveur us one day. One ought to remember how Hare overslept belittling slow moving Turtle and lost the first stage of game. Need to wake up!

JF-17 Design & engine was Foreign which China have got and sell that jet to Pakistan developing another variant with New Engine which is not in the market , Pakistan may not Trust chinese ws engine variant for JF pfx .JF-17 or any other chinese jet havent got much customer china is selling to p0rkitan whether it is J-10 or JF17 ..

Still it has managed to make more units than Tejas and even outside Pakistan more units have been sold than Tejas. All thanks to endless delays of DRDO and HAL.

Their units are combat capable while our unit is still on paper & not tested for combat. Chinese engine, no chinese engine.. why its a problem for us what they have.. we have american engine, american-british avionics, eqpt etc and still we are talking & talking.

The junk fighter will always remain the junk fighter. All of the jets are grounded because of major problems in the technology, hardware and software. The technology is unreliable, faulty and doesn’t meet any basic standards or work as they claim it can do. The type of weapons package is another failure and doesn't meet the range or ability.

Also Pakistan can’t develop a modern jet at all. The junk fighter has been designed and developed by China who did all of the work and wouldn’t allow Pakistan's involvement. The jet is manufactured with Chinese officials and using the same raw materials that they used. So in reality Pakistan didn’t develop this jet or learnt anything from them.

Wait a second. Last time I heard PFX was standalone term resembling Turkish TFX denoting Pakistani 5th gen fighter acquired from Turkey. Name given to Pakistani variant of TFX Kaan assembled in Pakistan but that rumours were put to end by PAF chief who announced they will acquire FC-31(Most likely because Turkish jet uses American Engine and Pakistan will end up losing money like 2.3 billion it lost in T-129). If Pakistan actually wanted to match Tejas Mark2 then they would easily paint J-10C, give it a Islamic name and call it their new scientific achievement.

Tejas has higher availability rates then jf-17 and much more better in quality. Chinese bvr have longer range. India also has kaveri which they are hesitant to use.

Iaf should not keep all eggs in one basket i.e.. HAL. Again a bureaucracy driven org with no project planning, course correction and bullied by import lobby. High time Private players to get into like Bharat Forge, Tata etc. shouldn't believe for us, uk for components.

Delays by HAL in particular.

Distorting facts? Just compare HAL's production rate with other OEMs. Do not blindly crow about HAL for that will only make matters worser for HAL will think its productivity is high (I meant their chai samosa breaktime will increase further)

For your kind information ARAAQ AND AEZERBYJAAN are new customers of jf 17 block 3. Moreover Jf17 block 2 is a battle tested predator, in broad day light,in Feb 2019 with out any doubt.

Production is based on orders, there can be no production without ordes, and those orders like IOC2, FOC, MK1A must be certified first, so you talk BS nonsense/ head without tail.
