Govt. Granted First 14 Citizenship Certificates Under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)

New Delhi, May 15 – In a move celebrated by many, the Indian government today issued the first 14 citizenship certificates under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). This marks a significant step in the implementation of the legislation, which provides a fast-track pathway to Indian citizenship for religious minorities from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh who faced persecution in their home countries.

The 14 recipients of the certificates, hailing from diverse backgrounds and communities, expressed relief and gratitude at finally being recognized as Indian citizens. "It is a great feeling to be an Indian," said Bharat Kumar, who had fled religious persecution in Pakistan 11 years ago. "It has given a new life to me."

Others shared similar sentiments, highlighting the opportunity the CAA offers for a safer, more secure future in India. Yoshoda, another recipient, expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that with her Indian nationality, the future of her family and children would be secured.

The ceremony was attended by Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who handed over the certificates to the recipients. He emphasized the government's commitment to upholding the rights of persecuted minorities and providing them with a path to citizenship.

This initial group of recipients represents a small portion of those eligible for citizenship under the CAA. The government has set up a dedicated online portal for processing applications, and it is expected that more certificates will be issued in the coming months.

Welcome. Work hard and be loyal to India above all. Under no circumstances should you betray the trust placed in you. Focus on making India proud...not ashamed.

It should have been completed long time before 2024 elections.
It is not too late either so grant citizenships to all and then relocate them to J&K so they will be ready before assembly elections.
Get to the task.
