The Indian Air Force (IAF) has recently showcased its esteemed Air Headquarters Communication Squadron, also known as 'Pegasus,' through a commemorative poster. This specialized unit holds a crucial position in India's aviation sector, entrusted with the secure transportation of the nation's most distinguished dignitaries.

Established as the Air Headquarters Communication Squadron (RIAF) during the British era, it was renamed the Air Headquarters Communication Squadron (IAF) following India's independence. The squadron's core mission is to provide air travel for VVIPs and VIPs, which includes foreign heads of state and government.

To execute this vital responsibility, Pegasus operates a fleet of aircraft including Mi-17-V helicopters, Embraer 145 and Legacy 600 jets, and the renowned Boeing 737 and Boeing 777-300ER (Air India One). These aircraft are subject to stringent maintenance and security procedures to guarantee the highest level of passenger safety.

The squadron's emblem, a majestic Pegasus, symbolizes its distinguished role in transporting the nation's leaders. Officially bestowed by President Dr. Rajendra Prasad in 1962, the emblem embodies the squadron's commitment to excellence and service.

With its motto, 'Sewa Aur Suraksha' (Service and Safety), the Pegasus Squadron exemplifies the Indian Air Force's dedication to protecting the nation's highest officials while maintaining the utmost standards of service
