India and US Partner to Bolster Indian Ground Forces with Advanced Stryker Vehicles

In a bid to reinforce India's defense capabilities along its border with China, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has unveiled a collaborative effort to develop advanced Stryker armored vehicles. The partnership will center around the Stryker M-SHORAD (Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense) system, built specifically to neutralize low-flying threats like drones, helicopters, and aircraft.

India's new Stryker M-SHORADs will be equipped with a state-of-the-art 50-kilowatt laser weapon, the Directed Energy M-SHORAD (DE M-SHORAD), alongside traditional missile-based defense systems. Central to this deal is the joint development of an upgraded Stryker A1 chassis, enhancing the vehicle's capabilities.

The Stryker M-SHORAD system offers India a mobile and highly effective air defense platform, built on the proven Stryker 8x8 vehicle base. Known for its versatility, the Stryker platform is used in multiple configurations by the US Army, making it readily adaptable for diverse combat environments.

Importantly, this deal will include a Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreement for India. This will encompass the Strykers themselves and their armaments, boosting domestic defense manufacturing capabilities. For the first phase, the Indian Army intends to acquire 300 Stryker M-SHORAD units, which may also be equipped with more powerful Cummins engines.

No other country will let down its people like this.

we have the VSHORADS missile , we have the kestrel, we have radars. The carrot is obviously the 50kw laser. fine but will it give TOT, i doubt that. we have to strike a hard bargain with the US as they need us. just like the ge 414 engine.

If this is ever inducted ,there is something wrong in the Indian army. Every component of this sytem is available in India. Drdo one is even better tahn stryker in many aspects. It should never be allowed. Army is the most import loving branch among all 3. Govt should check every induction of army thoroughly before giving money.

Only reason i can see this go through if us had somehow linked this to the jet engine deal, kind of if you want to get that you have to buy this type of deal, otherwise there is no reasoning. Drdo one is better at every parameter.

WhaP has mounted a 7.62 mm only and they are taking ages to even mount a 30 mm gun. So, how long would they take to mount SHORAD or Laser ? May be this development will at least push our Indian players to expedite their projects.

This is definitely fake news. The army haven't signed a deal and won't because we already have many indigenous IFV that have been developed. At best India will only supply parts and components for the USA and its allies that use this. You should also not believe any fake articles and news on the Internet. Any defence deals or plans to buy any indigenous or foreign weapons will be announced by the military themselves so until that happens you should be careful in what you believe.

Stryker variant is already finalized. U will see orders being placed in future, as and when platform is ready.

The Stryker IFV already has different type of weapons, technology and capabilities already developed and installed. The USA still wouldn't give us any critical technology or weapons to us like its engine or radars etc which will make us heavily reliant on them and it will be a very expensive vehicle.

The difference is that India aren't going to buy any Stryker vehicle because we have already developed several different type of IFV with similar technology and weapons. India can easily get the private sector to install the VSHORAD missiles that we are close to finishing after it passes some more tests and trials.
