The Indian Army has launched the first phase of Project NAMAN, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at providing comprehensive support and services to Defence Pensioners, Veterans, and their families. The project, inaugurated by General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, and Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi, President of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), revolves around the implementation of the digital pension system SPARSH, ensuring streamlined pension-related processes and accessible facilitation points across the country.

General Dwivedi underscored the significance of Project NAMAN in recognizing the sacrifices of veterans and their families. He emphasized that the project not only caters to the needs of the Defence community but also extends its services to the broader population residing in and around military stations.

The project entails the establishment of reception and facilitation centres known as Common Service Centres (CSCs). These centres, operationalized through a tripartite MoU between the Indian Army, CSC e-Governance India Limited, and HDFC Bank Limited, offer a range of services, including SPARSH-enabled pension assistance, Government to Citizen (G2C) services, and Business to Consumer (B2C) services, all under one roof.

In its initial phase, Project NAMAN has established 14 CSCs across strategic locations in India, including major cities and military hubs. The project is set for substantial expansion, with plans to establish approximately 200 centres nationwide in the coming years. Each CSC is managed by a Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE), selected from among veterans or their Next of Kin (NOKs), ensuring that the services are delivered by individuals who understand the unique needs of the Defence community.

The project represents a significant stride in enhancing the quality of life for veterans and their families. By combining streamlined pension services, accessible e-governance facilities, and entrepreneurial opportunities, Project NAMAN serves as a beacon of support and empowerment for those who have served the nation with unwavering dedication.
