Lockheed Martin Seeks Deeper Aerospace Collaboration with India

Lockheed Martin, a major player in the global aerospace industry, is actively exploring new avenues to expand its partnership with India. The company seeks to engage India's research, industrial, and academic sectors in cutting-edge technology development.

Randy Howard, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics' Vice President of Global Pursuits, emphasized the company's pursuit of "advanced transfer of technology opportunities" with India. These collaborations hold significant potential in multiple aerospace domains.

One key area is the possible integration of Lockheed Martin's Auto Ground Collision Avoidance System (Auto GCAS) into Indian aircraft. Designed to save lives, this technology automatically prevents aircraft from colliding with the ground, greatly boosting flight safety.

Lockheed Martin is also offering to assist in designing and developing a custom-built cockpit for India's F-21 fighter jet procurement. This 'ground floor' approach would provide India with valuable insights into 5th-generation cockpit systems and human-machine interfaces.

Perhaps most significant is the prospect of collaborative development on India's indigenous 5th-generation fighter program, known as the AMCA. Lockheed Martin's expertise could accelerate India's progress, leading to a more capable fighter aircraft.

Additionally, the company is interested in teaming with India to develop advanced, jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), further enhancing India's capabilities in this domain.

While discussions are ongoing, this initiative highlights a potential shift in India's drive for self-reliance within the aerospace sector. It also marks a significant deepening of Lockheed Martin's strategic relationship with India.

India should go for it.........it might be expensive but atleast promises success.

All technology for AMCA is already developed. India is on building prototype stage. What now, Lockheed wants to spoof it? Never trust people like Lockheed as they cannot give their allies stealth and what sabotage , trojan they plan.

First Fix issues of F-35 Then offer ur consultancy.A project of more than dozen countries still have some issues a couple of days article was published .

"F-21 fighter jets being procured by India". Say what now? Jumping the gun there by a country mile there, aren't we?

No, the prototype development has been green-lit. A lot of the subsystems will be procured now. That includes stuff like the GCAS.

You have to consider the fact that a new aircraft doesn't mean every single system within it is newly designed.

We must avoid to tech dependence from the US. They create false reports arm twist and get defence deals. Once our dependence on them is high they will twist neck along with the arm. Time to expedite and put higher efforts in kaveri and jet engine for lca mk2 and AMCA.

Do not fall in their trap. They just somehow want to sell f 16 fighters rebranded as f21 to India and sharing their technologies is a trap. This way they will keep India dependant on usa for weapons and in future they may do the same thing that they did to turkey. If u don't follow American instructions, they will stop to lowest to harm you. Collab with Americans will ensure some components of amca bein taken from America that will give America the power to derail amca when they want. Plus will take hefty amount for this as well.

Lockheed provided support for KF21
....its much more realistic than AMCA.

BAE provided support for TF X KAAN.... again it's way more realistic than AMCA.

Honestly, it is not possible. F21 can never enter India. People who thinks it is possible are just daydreaming.

India should remain focused on the AMCA and develop the technology, equipment, parts, components, instruments and sensors 100% indigenously so we aren't reliant on a foreign country which places our national security at risk. India can't get trapped in a viscous cycle for the next 40+ years relying on any expensive foreign technology and parts as we have done since independence.

The only foreign technology that we should use is the F414 engine temporarily until we develop our own indigenous engine that we will develop with Safran which will give us 100% of the technology and we can make it all in India.

What about ge engines? Should we avoid that too and use kaveri engines?

Yes just like they did with Korean kf 21.
They want to have some kind of leverage.
They don't want any country to have a proper fully functioning 5th gen fighter that isnt completely under their control.

We had over own experience with LCA program how the US companies run away in the middle of the of program and sabtoage the entire proces. Better DRDO/HAL go independent

F35 issues..... bro that jet literally overpowers everything which is operational leaving the Raptor, what are u even talking about!?

India should not go for F21 (F16 really) this is old wine in New Bottle. if they really want to give us advance technology then not a 60 year old designed jet with changed name of F21

Time has come to vociferously troll such planted articles which encourage foreign dependence.

Lets stand on our own legs.
We Can. We Must

Jai Bharat.

Why Lookheed is not confident over f35 to India .
Because it remains grounded.
India should not surprise when US may offer a base ball bat just like strykers.
Except GE and General Atomis , US is no where .

Unless these f-21s or f-16s fly against russian pilots in the ukraine war, and not get beaten badly by rookie russian pilots, you can't trust these self-certified "X-generation" tech.

F21 written all over IAF’s face, at the same time if India can’t make a 100% 4th gen aircraft with the indigenous technology’s available today, then how come we are going to make a 100% 5th gen aircraft all alone, all we are doing right now is comparing AMCA picture with flying production Chinese 5th gen aircraft and feeling very proud, that’s all we can do, making a 5th gen jet is not a easy job, ask the Japanese with all the financial and technological heft, they couldn’t do it alone, so any form of help with AMCA is much appreciated.
