In a major boost to India's domestic defence manufacturing capabilities, Munitions India Limited (MIL) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Drogo Aerospace Private Limited.
Signed in Pune on September 4, 2026, the agreement outlines a strategic collaboration to design, develop, and integrate indigenous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) alongside advanced loitering munition systems.
The pact was formalised by Kumar Vaibhav Gaur, Executive Director of MIL, and Yashwanth Bonthu, Founder and CEO of Hyderabad-based Drogo Aerospace.
This partnership leverages the distinct strengths of both organisations to build next-generation combat systems.
Drogo Aerospace will spearhead the design, manufacturing, and development of the UAV platforms and their empty-payload hardware.
On the other hand, MIL—a leading Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU)—will provide critical expertise in warhead technologies, munitions design, fuzing, payload filling, and explosive systems.
Together, the two entities will conduct joint safety evaluations, munition-UAV integration, and rigorous field trials to achieve quality certification and mission readiness.
Formed in 2021 following the reorganisation of the historic Ordnance Factory Board, Pune-headquartered MIL is a government-owned enterprise responsible for producing a wide array of bombs, rockets, and ammunition for both the Indian Armed Forces and allied foreign militaries.
Drogo Aerospace has also been an increasingly active player in the sector, recently delivering advanced drones to the Indian Army and expanding its portfolio in AI-powered aerial intelligence platforms.
The centrepiece of this new collaboration is Drogo Aerospace's "Delta Wing Kamikaze" drone, an indigenous one-way attack loitering munition designed to identify and destroy designated targets.
Characterised by its triangular wing shape, this unmanned platform recently completed successful preliminary testing in Hyderabad.
It is being explicitly developed for long-range strategic operations, with a targeted mission range of up to 1,000 kilometres and the capacity to deliver a 20 to 30-kilogram explosive payload.
According to Yashwanth Bonthu, the successful testing of the Delta Wing Kamikaze platform has accelerated the programme, and the new MoU with MIL provides the necessary momentum to achieve full operational validation.
By combining Drogo’s aerospace engineering with MIL’s proven munition capabilities, this joint venture aims to equip the Indian Armed Forces with cutting-edge, self-reliant unmanned combat systems, thereby strengthening the nation's broader defence manufacturing ecosystem.
