NSG Seeks Concealable Submachine Guns for Enhanced Operations

New Delhi, India – The National Security Guard (NSG), India's elite counter-terrorism force, has issued a tender for 150 concealable 9x19mm carbine submachine guns (SMGs). The move underscores its commitment to maintaining a technological edge in combating rapidly evolving security threats.

The tender includes 450 magazines and 150 laser aiming devices, indicating a focus on equipping NSG commandos with compact, highly accurate firearms optimized for swift and decisive action in close-quarters scenarios.

“Concealable SMGs are invaluable assets in hostage rescue and close-quarters counter-terrorism operations,” commented a retired NSG officer, speaking on condition of anonymity. “They provide the crucial element of surprise and tactical flexibility within confined spaces.”

Potential Contenders

Sources indicate the NSG is considering several world-renowned SMGs:
  • Adani (IWI) Uzi Pro: A modernized version of the classic Uzi, featuring improved ergonomics and firepower for close combat.
  • LML (DRDO) ASMI: Indigenously developed, offering reliability and adaptability in demanding environments.
  • HK MP-5K: This compact MP-5 variant is prized for its accuracy and reliability, ideal for close protection and urban operations.
  • B&T MP-9 A lightweight, modular SMG designed for special operations, offering exceptional maneuverability.

The NSG: India's First Line of Defence

The NSG, formed in 1986, is modeled after elite units like Germany's GSG-9 and the UK's SAS. It operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs, playing a vital role in high-risk counter-terrorism missions demanding unmatched speed and precision.

Strategic Significance

The procurement of concealable SMGs reflects a larger trend of specialized forces upgrading their arsenal to address contemporary threats. This tender signals the NSG's proactive stance in acquiring the tools necessary to maintain its operational readiness and effectiveness against any potential act of terrorism.

whatever you want, get it through local procurement, build capability and export.

Asmi is good as it’s local, can keep improving on it and build our own small arms industry.
More Insas too please and others from Sss defence etc.

India needs to stop importing foreign expensive guns as we have a large variety that are made in India. We now have many private companies that can either supply them at a cheaper price. Currently we need to buy either the JVPC/ASMI machine gun as the JVPC has passed all army tests and trials but ASMI is currently going through them with no progress update. The army needs to buy indigenous guns only and especially after they complete the trials as it's unfair they keep the developed gun waiting for years.

There is no carbine more cconcealed and accurate as the FN P90. There may be more accurate guns or more concealed but none offering both with such finesse.
