New Delhi, India – The National Security Guard (NSG), India's elite counter-terrorism force, has issued a tender for 150 concealable 9x19mm carbine submachine guns (SMGs). The move underscores its commitment to maintaining a technological edge in combating rapidly evolving security threats.
The tender includes 450 magazines and 150 laser aiming devices, indicating a focus on equipping NSG commandos with compact, highly accurate firearms optimized for swift and decisive action in close-quarters scenarios.
“Concealable SMGs are invaluable assets in hostage rescue and close-quarters counter-terrorism operations,” commented a retired NSG officer, speaking on condition of anonymity. “They provide the crucial element of surprise and tactical flexibility within confined spaces.”
Potential Contenders
Sources indicate the NSG is considering several world-renowned SMGs:- Adani (IWI) Uzi Pro: A modernized version of the classic Uzi, featuring improved ergonomics and firepower for close combat.
- LML (DRDO) ASMI: Indigenously developed, offering reliability and adaptability in demanding environments.
- HK MP-5K: This compact MP-5 variant is prized for its accuracy and reliability, ideal for close protection and urban operations.
- B&T MP-9 A lightweight, modular SMG designed for special operations, offering exceptional maneuverability.
