Pakistan in Talks with China for Additional J-10C Fighter Jets

Pakistan is reportedly engaging in discussions with China to acquire additional J-10C fighter jets, signaling a significant move to bolster its air force capabilities amid escalating regional tensions.

Sources indicate that Pakistan's Ambassador to China recently visited the headquarters of China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC) in Beijing. While the official agenda remains undisclosed, conversations reportedly revolved around procuring more J-10Cs and strengthening defense cooperation between the two nations.

This development comes on the heels of Pakistan's recent acquisition of 25 J-10CE jets, widely seen as a countermeasure to India's procurement of Rafale fighters from France. If the new deal goes through, Pakistan's J-10C fleet could reach 50 in the coming years, significantly enhancing its air combat capabilities.

The J-10C, a fourth-generation fighter jet renowned for its maneuverability and advanced avionics, is considered a formidable asset for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). Although the export variant, J-10CE, has certain limitations compared to its Chinese counterpart, it still represents a substantial upgrade for Pakistan's air power. The addition of Italian Grifo-E AESA-MMR radar and Leonardo's software-defined radio further amplifies the capabilities of Pakistan's J-10CEs.

The potential acquisition of additional J-10Cs has raised concerns in India, which closely monitors Pakistan's military advancements. The two nuclear-armed neighbors share a history of conflict, and this move could exacerbate the ongoing arms race in South Asia.

Analysts believe that Pakistan's pursuit of more J-10Cs reflects its determination to modernize its air force and maintain a balance of power with India. The deal's implications for regional security are significant and could trigger further military acquisitions in the region.

The PAF's existing fleet comprises a mix of U.S.-made F-16s and Chinese-origin JF-17s. The J-10C, with its advanced features, is expected to complement these aircraft, providing the PAF with a more versatile and potent air combat capability.

While the final details of the deal remain unclear, the potential expansion of Pakistan's J-10C fleet underscores the evolving security landscape in South Asia. As regional tensions persist, such military acquisitions are likely to remain a focal point for both countries and the international community.

Great, more jets on outrageous loans. Oh well. With news coming up that Bhikaristan is legalising cannabis and with such a large chunk of their school-aged population not going to school, they are well aimed to become and remain a nation of perennial beggars.

Oh, and someone please ask the MoD to look at this nonsense. We need new jets, and with indigenous jets slowly coming online, we need to hasten indigenous development efforts and green-light MRFA to maintain numbers against Bhikaristan and their Chinese masters.

Bhikaristan ordered 36 J-10s initially, which included 11 options. However, they have already converted those options to orders. Hence, they may well have 61 J-10s (minus losses) by the end of the decade if they manage to convince China to loan them the money for these 25 jets.

pakistan is only country who takes fighters on loan to please china to get more loan only to pay by taking loan from IMF :D

They are taking loans to pay the interest on loans that they originally took to pay off the interest of their baseline loans, essentially. Hopeless nation of perennial beggars, but they do have a fairly decent (and exceptionally misplaced) defence procurement system.

Looking at the pace of work at the "Beyghairat DPSU of India", award winner HAL, IAF should also order 100 or so J-10s from China.

There are many benefits to this:-
1) We will get them at cheap and if a contract is signed this year, we may get all 100 J10s delivered to the IAF even before the delivery of first Tejas Mk1A by HAL.
2) Since these jets will be manufactured in China, it fulfils IAF's "Phoren Maal" criteria, hence no 1000 years of testing will be enforced on the J-10s.

Again the same baseless accusations despite being countered multiple times. Fact is, while IAF field tests foreign jets, Indian jets are not tested at all by IAF. In fact, orders and advance payment is given even before DRDO internally clears the product. No one can do any better under any circumstances at all.

ONLY ONE path to follow now- get INDIA alliance into power and start with purchases of KAI KF21 Boramae 200 jets and then make in India SU57 Talon 200 jets... HAL can then be allowed to produce 1200 jets of MK1A MK1B MK2 MWF ORCA & AMCA at their own pace. Remember by late 1980's IAF was fielding almost 2,200 jets mostly Russian and few Jaguars too!

No hopes at all now.... IAF is Totally and BADLY outclassed by PLAF 20,000 fighter jets and Pork's latest JF17 Blk3's and J10CE's and also soon to be gifted by CCP - JC31's and J20's....

One word, MMRCA.

If IAF is so lock-stock&barrel into HAL's wares, why has it been lobbying hard that the orders for Tejas Mk-1A and Tejas Mk-2 should not come at the cost of MMRCA's numbers.

Everybody Tom, Dharmendra and Hari knows that IAF did not push for ORCA for many reasons, danger to MMRCA being on of them.

Pakistan cannot use IMF funds for defense purchases. Very simple.. Pakistan provides funds for defense purchases from national GDP money thru untraceable funds not trackable in Defense Budget. Its large and in Billions. Then IMF funds are used for economic uses including food imports.

Because they are 2 different products. Does HAL have anything in the given category? In fact, IAF ACM has answered this very question. Even with MRFA, IAF is barely going to have 35 squadrons by 2035, assuming no one misses any deadlines. That’s the reason for MRFA.

As for ORCA, fact is that nothing like that ever existed in the history of India. So there is nothing to back.

What exactly does the coming of that band of idiots who call themselves the INDI alliance have anything to do with the KF-21? If we wanted to buy those, we could do so regardless of who sits at the centre. Oh, and forget that wannabe fifth-generation jet Su-57. That is a hole we managed to get out of. No point in going back in.

Finally, who is going to fund these 1600 jets, as you put it? Even if you had the funding, if you allow HAL to manufacture 1200 of these at their own pace, then we'll probably have the last of them entering service by the time we celebrate 250 years of independence in 2197.

Oh, and the IAF never operated 2,200 jets at any point in it's existence. Nor sure where you got that number from, but you are off by a country mile.

On paper, they can't use that bailout money. However, looking at just how much money Bhikaristan receives, it is fairly obvious where a lot of it goes: As you said, "untraceable funds".

20,000 fighters? Have you added the strength of every single Air Force in the world? Even then, I doubt you'd reach 20,000 fixed wing aircraft.

Oh, and China isn't offering the J-20 for export. It seems to be for them what the F-22 is for the Americans.
