Analysis Rudram-II: A Multi-Role Universal Missile With 200kg Warhead and 300km Range

India's indigenous air warfare capabilities achieved a significant milestone on May 29th with the successful test-firing of the Rudram-II air-to-surface missile. This marked the first full-configuration test of the weapon, launched from a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet off the coast of Odisha.

The Rudram-II, developed by the DRDO, is a "universal weapons system" designed for seamless integration into various Indian fighter jets. This includes the Su-30MKI, which can carry three Rudram-II missiles, as well as the upcoming Tejas MkII and potentially the Rafale in the future. The Tejas Mk1A will be able to carry two Rudram-II missiles.

Dual-Role Capability: Anti-Radiation and Ground Attack

The missile comes in two variants: an anti-radiation missile (ARM) and a ground-attack missile. The ARM variant is designed to neutralize enemy radar and communication systems, while the ground-attack variant can target a wide range of enemy assets.

Technical Specifications and Future Trials

The Rudram-II boasts an impressive range of over 300km, potentially extending to 350km depending on launch altitudes. It is powered by a solid-propellant rocket motor and utilizes inertial and satellite navigation for precise mid-course targeting.

The DRDO has planned further trials to assess various launch parameters before the missile system is cleared for production. The organization is also developing the Rudram-III, an air-to-surface missile with an even longer range of 550-600km.

The 800kg Rudram-II missile can carry a 200kg warhead, further enhancing its destructive power. While the exact specifications of the Rudram-III are not publicly available, its extended range and heavier weight suggest an even more formidable weapon.

Rafale Badly need Anti-Radiation Rudram in its Weapon package , it is Most Advanced Fighter Jet in Indian Fleet it will make more deadly.

As I was writing for a long time, in about 5 years India will become a premier missile manufacturer of all kinds - A2AMs, A2GMs, Air and Missile Defense Interceptors, anti-tank missiles, helicopter borne missiles, etc.

The three Rudra I, II, and III combination will be unbeatable too.

India will also capture substantial portion of defense exports in these areas all across the developing countries and handsomely contribute to FOREX reserves.

Wonderful news.

This one Super missile, hope they extend the range to 1000km or more.

This is brilliant progress as India needs these missiles. We should continue developing and improving the different variants of the missiles so that it can be used as a general purpose missile as well. Now we can cut down on foreign expensive imports which will allow more money to be spent on further weapons research. It would be great if we can develop a Rudram 3 missile which several can be used from all of our jets including the Tejas MK1A.

Rafale's RBE 2 radar has a geolocation feature, which allows it to use any bomb or missile as an ARM. F35 has it too. Of course, a dedicated ARM will be even better.

Yet more glorification. When will it get inducted? That's the question.

Rafales rbe2 AESA radar (gallium arsenide tech) is still not comparable to f35 an/apg81 radar (AESA GAN) nor the upcoming an/apg85 for f35 blk 4.... Same goes to EFT tranche 3 ESCAN ECRS mk1 radar (AESA GAN tech) same to the upcoming ESCAN ECRS mk2 radar (Gallium arsenide mix combo with Gallium nitride tech).... So in conclusion rbe2 AESA radar is not superior

Rafales f2/3 and 4.2 rbe2 AESA radar is more powerful than older ESCAN mk0(not AESA) of EFT tranche 1/2....

Rbe2 AESA radar can't compete to f15ex radar too😹😹😹.... It's just a good radar but not superior

*Correction:
Rafales rbe2 radar is not AESA instead it's a PESA technology 😹😹😹

Yes, not good enough to be compared to Su35. No doubt there. But far more powerful than the EF. This has been admitted by Brits themselves.

Nope, your still in denial 😹😹😹...those you mention is old news.... We are in the current timeline bruh...

Or your just butt hurt that you can admit the users of EFT are upgrading their stockpiles🙃😜

I am talking about the current times bro. As recent as the start of this decade. Whatever is in operation or is going to be go into production for the next couple of years was in development back then. A researcher paid by EF himself said that at least for the next decade (that is, till 2030), there is no chance that EF can overtake the radar of Rafale as France is just too far ahead.

Nope., your one of those WOKE deniers bruh and spreading misinformation 😹😹😹....
Information of EFT and rafales are in the internet.... Are you telling that both Dassault and EFT consortium are liars like you🙃😜

Well I am quoting Dassault and EFT. You are the one who refuses to believe even EFT's own words. Researchers paid by EFT themselves are saying they can't beat Rafale's radar. But you have an agenda and refuses to believe them.
