Army Seeks Heavy-Duty Remotely Controlled Vehicle for Battlefield Missions

In a move to increase automation and safeguard soldiers, the Indian Army is developing a powerful remotely controlled tracked vehicle (RCTV) designed to carry heavy loads across the battlefield, according to sources.

Private Indian companies currently provide RCTVs suitable for surveillance and light weaponry. However, the Army's ambition is a vehicle with a much higher payload capacity, in the range of 4-6 tons. This robust design would open up a wide array of battlefield applications.

The envisioned heavy-duty RCTV aims to transform both combat and logistical operations. It could replace manned trucks in dangerous areas, reducing troop risk, and serve as a mobile platform for heavy weapons like mortars and anti-tank systems.

Additionally, the RCTV's ability to handle specialized equipment would make it invaluable for combat engineering missions such as mine disposal and overcoming obstacles.

The Indian Army is collaborating with domestic private companies in this development initiative. This partnership leverages expertise within India, potentially resulting in a faster development process and boosting the country's self-sufficiency in defense technology.

Fake news. They don't need it. Why on earth they would need remote trucks when the technology isn't mature and hasn't yet commercialized in India ? This is certainly fake news. We are not employing another 100 soldiers' for operating remote machines. Already we have 1000 of drones to operate.

This is something that will only be bought if it costs the same amount of a normal truck otherwise forget about purchasing it. Also it's not exactly a priority purchase as we have several cargo drone which can move cargo at a quicker and easier pace.

Based on thier induction record, only imports will fit if any.

Army officers go to exhibitions of arms merchants and develop liking for everything new. This item seems to be one of those likes, whether you need it not is a different issue. Bulk load carrying drone like this was another item highlighted sometime back. The latter is more useful than the one described in the article.
