HAL Accelerates Tejas Trainer Production, Targets Six Deliveries This Year

Bengaluru, India – Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is making significant strides toward fulfilling its 18-aircraft Tejas Trainer order for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The state-owned aerospace company is focused on the accelerated production and delivery of these trainers, aiming to supply six aircraft by the end of the year.

Just last October, HAL delivered the first Tejas Trainer (LT-5201) to the IAF. Since then, HAL has completed preparations on two additional aircraft for delivery (LT-5202 & LT-5203).

Both these aircraft have undergone successful low-speed taxi trials, demonstrating their readiness. Furthermore, a fourth trainer (LT-5204) is in the final stages of completion.

HAL's production push extends beyond solely the trainers. The company has taken on the ambitious goal of delivering the first two Tejas Mk1A fighter jets, single-seater variants, to the IAF by April 2024.

The Tejas Mk1A, a significant upgrade to the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft, features a suite of enhanced capabilities and technological advancements compared to its predecessor.

The increased production of the Tejas aircraft range highlights India's determination to boost its indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities, reducing reliance on foreign imports and solidifying the 'Make in India' initiative in the aerospace sector.

So From 2026 MK1A production may cross 16 to 20 .Once Trainer jets are deliver, This trainer are part of 83 MK1A order by IAF.

Nope they have yet to deliver 7 trainers for Tejas mk1. I really don't understand you being so optimistic about HAL inspite of their lethargic & lazy screw driving.

No, next year they may deliver 6 MK1A plus remaining Trainer jets.
"May" is the keyword here. They haven't yet delivered 7 trainers for tejas mk1. Only 33 planes delivered since 2015. So an average of 3 aircrafts per year in 10 years.

Words are cheap HAL. If you screw drive 2 planes in 2024-25 it will be 100% increase in screw driving. WOW!!🤣

Delivering 2 MK1A by April is an "ambitious target" by HAL!!!!!
What to say, no word is enough to describe the sorry state.. getting shivers thinking that future of MK2, AMCA & TEBDF is in the hands of this company..

"First two Tejas IA single seater delivered by April 2024"

Forget about 2023 deliveries.
Now went from February to March and then now to by April.

The HAL workers snack and tea breaks, lunch breaks, and siesta breaks must have been elongated a lot in celebration of NON-DELIVERY by trade union guys.

Sad indeed.

Have a patience.

I think these articles about HAL production rates are deliberately bought up to demoralize HAL. Plz leave them alone. Production is not the only thing after all...😆

Yeah, leave them alone. They have families too. Production is not the only thing in life.

HAL employees have every right to enjoy their life and have a good time while the common tax paying citizen slog under the sun and risk life tarvelling at the gate of Virar fast to pay for the good PSU life these sarkari HAL nincompoops enjoy.

Oh, btw it may not matter to you or to many, but it is incompetent firms like HAL's delinquent behaviour tiwards national security which wmboldens our adversities to play funny games at the border. Games, in which our soldiers have to pay in their blood. Soldiers who have families too and whose life could have been preserved if only our Chai-samosa sipping HAL babus could do their usual work and produce the number of jets just near to the capacity that HAL's assembly line is built for.

Alas, I guess being mediocre ia just too much to ask for from HAL employees.
After all, production is not the only thing.

Deliveries of Mk1A is to begin this year. I would wait till the end of the year before passing judgement. If HAL is able to deliver 80% of promised aircraft this year and the rest by firat few months of next year, that would be good and a major improvement.

Well said, these people of HAL belong to the bygone era and they must be expunged from active industrial production labor force.

I am not pessimistic as are many others. Many changes have been made, production lines have been modernised. Many private players have been included in supply chain, and project management follows modern standards now.

I will wait for results at the end of year before passing judgement. If HAL is able to deliver 80% of promised aircraft this year and the rest by firat few months of next year, that would be good and a major improvement
