HAL Accelerates Tejas Trainer Production, Targets Six Deliveries This Year

Bengaluru, India – Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is making significant strides toward fulfilling its 18-aircraft Tejas Trainer order for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The state-owned aerospace company is focused on the accelerated production and delivery of these trainers, aiming to supply six aircraft by the end of the year.

Just last October, HAL delivered the first Tejas Trainer (LT-5201) to the IAF. Since then, HAL has completed preparations on two additional aircraft for delivery (LT-5202 & LT-5203).

Both these aircraft have undergone successful low-speed taxi trials, demonstrating their readiness. Furthermore, a fourth trainer (LT-5204) is in the final stages of completion.

HAL's production push extends beyond solely the trainers. The company has taken on the ambitious goal of delivering the first two Tejas Mk1A fighter jets, single-seater variants, to the IAF by April 2024.

The Tejas Mk1A, a significant upgrade to the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft, features a suite of enhanced capabilities and technological advancements compared to its predecessor.

The increased production of the Tejas aircraft range highlights India's determination to boost its indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities, reducing reliance on foreign imports and solidifying the 'Make in India' initiative in the aerospace sector.

I am really shell shocked. All the Tejas trainers were supposed to be delivered by 31st Dec 23.

NOW HAL is ramping up production!!!! in Mar 24!!

GOD BLESS INDIA!! GOD BLESS HAL!!

India needs to increase its manufacturing capacity and build more trainers as it takes a long time to train pilots. At the same time they should also keep manufacturing the Tejas MK1A jets as we need to increase our squadron strength.

Another option is to issue a license to any indigenous private sector company who can manufacture the entire jet and they can make it much more quickly and cheaper than HAL.

What HAL needs is a realistic estimation of production capacity - both their own and of their various vendors. If the Govt. is serious about "Make In India" they need to resolve the production issues of our industries. Such issues may be managerial, maybe lack of skills, maybe bugetary, maybe something else entirely. First step would be to admit truthfully where we really are at the moment.

Bas ramp up karte raho. Production rates wahi ka wahi...bahane naye naye. Hum ye kar lenge hum wo kar lenge...first do it and broadcast your achievements. As of now its just goal post shifting exercise.

Tgis acceptance of failure and mediocre is the reason for the sorry state of aatmanirbharta in India.

Without going into the can of worms that the DPSU's recruitment process is, the assumption that only the ones who work(so called) are also the ones contributing to nation building, and others who work in other fields, probably in more non-cushy workplaces, and pay their taxes, are not contributors of the same nation building exeecise, is one of the bane of socialist train of thought.

Get well soon.

Well...while writing the comments a Tejas crashed. Down by one now...ramp up the production warna udane ke liye kuch na rahega.
