The Indian Army is actively pursuing the development of advanced robotic systems to enhance the safety and efficiency of mine clearance operations.

These multi-functional robots will be designed to detect, identify, and neutralize unexploded ordnance (UXO) and explosive devices, minimizing the risks faced by personnel engaged in these hazardous tasks. This initiative reflects the Army's increasing focus on leveraging cutting-edge technology in modern military operations.

Remote-controlled robotic systems have become indispensable tools for navigating dangerous environments. They allow for the safe disposal of explosive threats while keeping human operators at a safe distance.

By increasing the area that can be cleared of explosives, these robots will not only protect soldiers but also ensure the effective execution of missions in challenging terrains.

To realize this vision, the Indian Army is likely to partner with private sector companies specializing in robotics, AI, and defence technology. This collaboration will foster innovation and support the indigenization of critical technologies under the government's "Make in India" initiative. Private firms will play a crucial role in developing and deploying robotic solutions tailored to the Army's specific operational needs.

The envisioned robotic systems will be multi-functional, capable of detecting, identifying, and neutralizing a wide range of explosive devices. Their design will emphasize durability, mobility, and adaptability to diverse environments, from dense forests to urban landscapes. This is particularly important for the Indian Army, which often conducts mine-clearing operations along contested borders and in post-conflict zones.

The integration of advanced robotic systems represents a significant step towards modernizing the Army's operational capabilities. By prioritizing safety and efficiency, these innovations will not only protect personnel but also contribute to broader strategic objectives. As the Indian Army faces evolving security challenges, these technological advancements will be crucial in ensuring its readiness and effectiveness.

We already have several variants of a mine clearance but if we need to upgrade them then we should look at designing, developing and manufacturing our own 100% indigenous mine clearance vehicle or remote controlled robot.
