Colonel Vikas Chaturvedi, an innovative officer in the Indian Army, has spearheaded the development of the "Baaz" Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), a game-changing weapon with the potential to reshape modern warfare.

This indigenously developed drone is the first in the Indian Army's arsenal to be equipped with the capability to fire rocket launchers, significantly boosting its firepower and operational flexibility.

The Baaz UAS is a versatile platform designed to carry a wide range of payloads, including small arms, automatic grenade launchers, mortar bombs, and explosives. This adaptability makes it suitable for a variety of military applications, such as:
  • Anti-tank operations: Engaging enemy armored vehicles with precision strikes.
  • Bunker destruction: Neutralizing fortified enemy positions.
  • Targeting critical infrastructure: Striking enemy administrative areas, ammunition dumps, and command and control centers.
  • Counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations: Providing close air support and eliminating threats in urban and challenging terrains.
  • Logistical support: Delivering supplies and equipment to forward areas.
With an impressive range of up to 10 kilometers and an endurance of 45 minutes, the Baaz UAS offers significant operational reach. Its top speed of 12 meters per second, combined with its ability to carry a payload of up to 80 kilograms, makes it a powerful and agile weapon system.

One of the most remarkable features of the Baaz UAS is its stability, even during firing. This ensures accurate targeting and effective payload delivery, maximizing its impact on the battlefield.
