The Indian Army is set to receive a major boost in its anti-tank capabilities with the induction of the Sarisa CLIPON Thermal Sight next week. Manufactured by Tonbo Imaging, a leading name in advanced thermal imaging systems, the Sarisa is a cooled LWIR thermal imager designed to significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the Konkurs anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) launcher.

The Sarisa's integration with a high-performance cooled thermal imaging camera provides soldiers with the ability to precisely lock onto both stationary and moving targets, even under challenging day-night and adverse weather conditions, before launching a missile. Operating in the LWIR spectral range, the Sarisa offers exceptional long-range threat detection, recognition, and identification.

Engineered for seamless integration, the Sarisa comes equipped with special mounting brackets, allowing it to be easily attached in front of the Konkurs ATGM launcher's optics channel. Its CLIPON configuration and inbuilt collimated optics allow the user to engage targets using the same sight channel as the Konkurs launcher's direct view optics. This eliminates the need for zeroing, resulting in improved operational efficiency on the battlefield.

Safety and durability are also paramount. The Sarisa features an ergonomically designed housing with absorbers to protect it during operation, along with a face shield to safeguard the gunner during missile launch.

The induction of the Sarisa CLIPON Thermal Sight into the Indian Army marks a significant advancement in the force's anti-tank capabilities. The enhanced thermal imaging capacity will allow soldiers to detect and engage targets with greater precision and effectiveness, thereby strengthening the Army's combat readiness.

Tonbo imaging is a gem. They started supplying to US Army before our army learnt of them. We should buy everything that they produce. They one of the very few indian defence companies that produce cutting edge producta that even western countries buy.

These products are much better than even western thermal imaging and it’s great that our army are now starting to use what we have developed indigenously.
