India's Air Force Mitigates Russian Supply Disruptions with 'Indianization' Strategy

Concerns about the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on the Indian Air Force's (IAF) Russian-made aircraft fleet have been addressed by Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. He emphasized the IAF's long-standing focus on "Indianization" – the development of crucial aircraft components within India. This approach has successfully reduced reliance on foreign suppliers for spare parts.

While the Ukraine conflict has disrupted spare part supplies for some Russian systems, the IAF Chief did not disclose specifics. However, a source suggests that older Russian air defense systems and the IL-76 heavy transport aircraft may face spares shortages.

To combat this, the IAF is partnering with domestic companies to develop indigenous substitutes. "Indianization has been a core focus for the IAF, and it is proving its value during the current geopolitical situation," a source at commented. “This is a long-term strategy, ensuring operational readiness regardless of external factors."

The IAF’s emphasis on self-sufficiency highlights its adaptability in the face of potential global crises. While the full extent of the Ukraine conflict's impact on certain Russian systems remains uncertain, the IAF's forward-thinking approach puts it in a strong position to maintain its defense capabilities.

Ukraine war is done, so there shouldn’t be any delays with the spares anymore after a little while, everything will be back to normal soon.

No. Not buying these nonsense.
All of the agreed upon deliveries have been delayed. Whether it's upgrade lf su 30 or the s400 itself.
