India's record defence budget for FY2026-27 with enhanced focus on procurement of advanced defense equipment, technologies & systems is earmarked for several next-generation platforms and ongoing high-value projects, which include:-
A. Air Force & Aerospace:
1. Fighter Fleets: Progress on the Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft (MRFA) program and LCA Tejas Mk1A.
2. Force Multipliers: Development of Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) systems and Medium Transport Aircraft.
3. MRO Ecosystem: A basic customs duty waiver on raw materials for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) will benefit aerospace units.
B. Navy & Undersea Warfare:
1. Submarines: Continued funding for Project 75(I) to build six advanced AIP-equipped submarines.
2. Unmanned Systems: Procurement of autonomous underwater vehicles and the Jalkalpi uncrewed underwater vehicle.
C. Army & Battlefield Technology:
1. Artillery & Mobility: Induction of K9 Vajra-T self-propelled guns and 156 LCH Prachand helicopters.
2. Smart Weapons: Increased spend on Pralay missiles, loitering munitions, and anti-drone systems.
D. Border Infrastructure:
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) received ₹7,394 crore to accelerate critical tunnels, bridges, and airfields in forward areas.
E. Corporate Beneficiaries:
Major Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and private firms are expected to see a surge in their order pipelines going forward, including:
1. Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL): High-value aircraft and aero-engine programs.
2. Mazagon Dock & Garden Reach: Major naval shipbuilding and submarine projects.
3. Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL): Radars, electronic warfare, and surveillance systems.
4. Start-Ups in the defence ecosystem
