India's aerospace sector is poised for a significant milestone as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) prepares for the inaugural flight of the upgraded LCA Tejas Mk-1A fighter jet. The test flight could take place within days, subsequently leading to the aircraft's delivery to the Indian Air Force (IAF) by the end of March.

Representing a major advancement in the IAF's modernization drive, the Tejas Mk-1A boasts superior capabilities compared to its predecessor, the Tejas Mk-1. This enhanced variant was ordered in 2021 as part of a 73-fighter jet deal and is expected to significantly augment the IAF's combat capabilities.

HAL is concurrently working to complete the twin-seater trainer variant of the Tejas Mk-1A. This trainer version is crucial for preparing pilots to operate the single-seater fighter jets.

The IAF has ambitious plans for the Tejas program. Negotiations are ongoing for the acquisition of another 97 single-seater Tejas Mk-1A jets, with a deal potentially being reached later this year. This potential order underscores the Tejas Mk-1A's growing importance as a core component of the IAF's fighter jet fleet.
 
Thank God, finally coming out party for our long awaited Tejas IA is near in next two days.
There are still 13 days left so they will make it in March 2024.
And then how many this year?

Hope that HAL workers do not go into long Siesta after celebrations and miss further deliveries milestones.

It was said in February, here April is to come.
Everything is not their fault. Hal depends on its suppliers as well, and some subsystems needed certification which is done by centre for military airworthiness and certification, CEMILAC, which is in DRDO. HAL does final assembly and delivery, that is why blame is always put on it. Few months delay is not that big a deal. It will still be great news if first aircraft is solid and performs well, even if delivered in april
 
One thing is interesting in this article is Trainer aircraft in MK1A standard.. It means all 8 FOC standard trainer delivered... is that so..???? it's really surprising for HAL...

Who is responsible for delivering the Aircraft!?
Let's say in a group presentation ( on an MNC project) u r the leader and then 1 person doesn't perform his duty, so during the meeting who would be accused!? Who would be held responsible!? Stop sugar- coating: it has done no good to the nation.
 
With HAL, its always, preparing, gearing up, planning, discussing, debating, .....everything in future tense, cos the prresent is busy with chai and biscuits

Can we shift the manufacturing if mk1a to tatas, or other private players and ask Hal to focus on solely on Amca, tedbf and tejas mk2. Since orders are firmed up and technology it's freezed and hal staff initial for hand holding or at least partially 180 pieces

As if Tatas are very eager to manufacture fighter jets. These are low volume , high risk , capital intensive sector. Nobody wants a government customer, that too as it's only customer. Too much risk from a capital risk management perspective l.

GE is restarting F404 line again and max they can go is 20 engines by 2026-27 in the first year to delivery we will get a handful of engines only... Boeing F-15Ex delivery is late , Boeing trainer jet delivery is late , F-35 delivery is late...

Call me naive, but I refuse to just brainlessly blame someone for a mistake when He might have nothing to do with it. Also, I habe worked in corporate, and there people are very very good at assigning blame and firing the correct person. Managers are quick to prove which of their employees screwed up and needs to go. I know because I was let go, LOL.
