The world is moving at a very rapid pace and there is no doubt that every country is playing a safe game and new beginning of a geopolitical shift which was beneath the blanket has been seen coming to surface with prominence. So where do the interest of India stand, no doubt our loud and clear slogan is “Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam” which sounds great to the ears, a slogan that will give loud applause in public, an emotion to bring tears in the eyes of emotional hearted. But is it a time to move away from this stand and think of India interest, well the answer is a bold and affirmative “Yes”. The reasons and thoughts lie below.

The bureaucracy and the stale, ignorance and horrendous decisions and behavior of past Indian governments have really had a significant deterrence in the growth of India. Not that India did not have brains or the resources it was the political will that had an impact that we are still a developing country. India and China both were a under developing countries in the early 70’s till the rise of 21st century. How is it that the China has rocketed to 2nd largest economy, and we are still running in the race. The reason was the farsightedness of the Chinese rulers in the country back then who realized the potential of their resources and by far the Indian rulers just neglected the powerhouse of Indian brain and will power back then.

How many of us know about HF – 24 Marut, very few, this was indigenous fighter aircraft developed by HAL in 1960’s 70’s which was used in the 1971 war against Pakistan. China was not in the race they even did not know of making the paper version of any fighter aircraft. So, the question is why we are still not able to develop a 5th generation fighter jet and our Tejas is still in the jeopardy whereas China has two 5th generation fighters and already ready with 6th generation fighter. The shear reason was the political will and support needed the encouragement to ignite that small flint of fire into a potential inferno.

Classic case of Kaveri jet engines the initiation was in the early 80’s for jet engine development and today also the Kaveri does not have fate of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. India and its ambitions of advanced homegrown fighter jets are hanging on the wish of the foreign supplier and his terms and conditions.

The very recent struggle that the world is going is the matter of Rare Earth elements. IREL and other companies in India have the knowledge the skills of extraction, purification, and further use of these metals, the why the struggle is there for India also. The reason was we neglected our backyard and focused on the external party. The 100 percent dependency on China has brought us to this stop. Why we have not focused on our own backyard and encouraged our own enterprises. Both China and India had the knowledge and process, but China persisted with and we just neglected the art and importance due to our bureaucratic hurdles.

These are the few examples that just flashed in the mind and are of current very much importance, we are struggling with Tejas production as there is halt and purposeful delay from GE end, there is purposeful stop of Rare Earth supply from China to India. The very reason is to halt the galloping progress of India, but no issue there is a reason for every calamity to which a strong solution is always available.

There is no doubt that India has moved and progressed through all the difficulties and challenges and will keep moving as the challenges are growing thick and fast. The geopolitical situation at very present is very dilute and full of dense fog it will be very difficult to know who a friend is and who is the back stabber. Political will and the focus are going to be of prime importance for our future success. It is said that in geopolitics nobody is permanent friend, and nobody is permanent enemy. India must leave the slogan and look for own interests for safeguarding the future. There are lot of money that we have given/ offered to countries for e.g., Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, many neighboring countries. Now the time has come for enchasing the investments. No harm in having our few military bases like other powerful countries in some of these countries which will be of strategic importance for us in long run. The opportunities are immense and so does the political will of our countries administration. We must overcome the past mistakes done by the previous governments remove the roadblock of bureaucratic culture of decision making and look for safeguarding and attaining our self-benefits. “Look West” for everything policy must be disowned now we have to scrap the overburden of bureaucratic culture in the system for fast decision making.
