UAE's EDGE Group Proposes Local Production of AL TARIQ Smart Weapons in India

EDGE Group, a leading UAE-based technology and defense company, has expressed its interest in collaborating with India on the production of its AL TARIQ smart weapons. This move signifies a potential boost to India’s indigenous defense capabilities.

EDGE Group’s Managing Director & CEO, Hamad Al Marar, has proposed the transfer of AL TARIQ technology to India, enabling local production by Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL). This collaboration could lead to significant benefits for both countries.

Furthermore, EDGE Group and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the manufacturer of India’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, have already initiated a joint program to integrate AL TARIQ with the Tejas. This collaboration highlights the potential for a comprehensive partnership between the two companies.

The ongoing integration efforts aim for completion later this year. A successful integration would pave the way for demonstrations to the Indian Air Force (IAF), showcasing the advantages of the AL TARIQ weapon system and potentially leading to its adoption by the IAF.

Rafale has beaten even F18 and Rafale on price. So if Rafale is costlier than F35, then F35 must be cheaper than any 4th gen plane.

Domestic R&D in private sector is minimal to existenet. Only few like Solar Group has done in few small segments. What happened to their long range MLRS program ? Adani is interested in changing tag of Isreali products with Indian tag? Garuda defense not only buys Chinese components but the entire drone systems like their recent Trishula . DRDO's budget is less than what government spends in fertilizer subsidy.
Recently we have seen that EEL provided Multimode handgranades ahead of schedule and the quality was also good ; but now after spending so much there is no repeat order. TATA spent much in ATAGS and Kestral but no order is coming. No intention on MARG or even Garuda 105. Bhargavastra drone killer was being developed by Solar Group through its own investment, no help I'd coming from govt. When there is no commitment from Army then why would they invest in R&D in the first place ? To get bankrupt ? This is the reason why TATA, Mahindra , Reliance willing to cooperate with Airbus , Martin Lockheed and Boeing to make aircraft , but have 0 interest in producing HAL MTA or RTA or investment in AMCA. Because they do not want to get bankrupt .

every point you made I have vounter to that, but it would be too long. So I would just say that, private R&D in defence was non existent 6-8 years ago, and it is continuously increasing. Most of the R&D we never hear about. For eg, for tejas mk1, we had less than 50% indigenous components and for mk1a and mk2, it is going to be more than 70%. This means 100s of components have been indigenised and these are built by private sector companies. As for orders, army or air force gives orders when there is need. Stuff like grenades have a shelf life which is pretty short. 10-15 years when stored properly. slowly odl stocks will be replaced by new. Same goes for armored vehicles. ATAGS and kestrel were based on DRDO tech. And this is the first iteration. You dont see huge orders for first iteration. Army has sent feedback, and it will be incorporated when new model comes.

For ballistic missiles Pakistan got it from NK and NK obviously got it from China, this is a known fact corroborated by multiple sources. In other aspects DRDO may have failed but they've absolutely done well in ballistic missiles especially RCI Hyderabad under APJ. Currently DRDO haven't been able to design a long range bomb yet as it's still under development so we can make a few temporary purchases if we are running low. It would be better if we can have a indigenous private company who can develop and make long range bombs in India as it will be much cheaper, quicker and we don't have to keep on making foreign expensive imports.

lol, true. But cost not the only factors. UAE is building strong relations with India, and since it cant buy chinese or russians jets (out of fear of US) it could go for Indian jets. Maybe not tejas mk1a, but mk2 is a possibility. if you look at qatar and saudis, they buy a huge amount of military hardware from america as well as europe to curry favour.

UAE have 80 Rafales on order.
Unless they pick a fight with the Jews, they will be in service to 2060.
Hopefully they will look at Mk2 to compliment Rafale.

I think UAE could go for AMCA, if AMCA when comes online. Rich gulf nations are the best customers for 5th gen jets. America wont sell F35 to them since they are close to russia and china, Competition will be between AMCA, Korean 5th gen and turkish KAAN. I believe AMCA has advantage here.
