AMCA Stealth Fighter Jet to Receive Indigenous Radar Absorbing Skin

India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program is set to achieve a major milestone with the incorporation of indigenously developed Ultra Wide Band (ULB) Radar Absorbing Skin (RAS). This technological advancement, created by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), promises to significantly enhance the AMCA's stealth capabilities, solidifying its position as a true fifth-generation fighter jet.

ULB RAS is a cutting-edge material designed to absorb electromagnetic waves across a wide range of frequencies, including those utilized by modern radar systems. By minimizing the reflection of radar waves, ULB RAS drastically reduces the AMCA's radar signature, making it exceptionally difficult for enemy forces to detect.

This enhanced stealth capability grants the AMCA a critical advantage in modern warfare scenarios. It enables the fighter jet to penetrate enemy airspace undetected, facilitating surprise attacks and other strategic maneuvers. Additionally, the reduced radar signature significantly improves the AMCA's survivability by making it a more elusive target for enemy forces.

The integration of ULB RAS complements the AMCA's existing stealth design features, including its distinctive shape and specialized coatings. By addressing potential gaps in the aircraft's stealth profile, ULB RAS strengthens its overall stealth capabilities and positions it as a formidable contender among top-tier stealth fighters worldwide.

The enhanced stealth capabilities provided by ULB RAS will enable the AMCA to conduct a broader range of missions with increased effectiveness. This includes critical operations such as long-range strikes, reconnaissance flights, and air superiority missions.

Great strides by India with stealth.
However, the coating materials are very toxic and also the coatings wears off quickly so it is a constant maintenance issue for IAF.

Nevertheless, it is a big progress indeed.

Developed or in process...................???
Already in use with Frontline MiG29 UPG fighters. Reported to have significantly reduced radar cross section although not to a fifth generation level.

Won't be surprised if the same is eventually applied on Tejas MK1A, MK2, Super Sukhoi, etc.

The MK1A already with a reportedly small RCS (0.5m2) could approach near fifth generation RCS capability with this paint.

Stealth is overrated.

Super-manuevuerability is what we must focus on.
According to Moore's law the "number of transistors per IC double every two years at MINIMUM cost". At this rate radars growth will outperform stealth materials/coating no matter what we do.
Already doubt it if F35 is not already discoverable by latest radar tech.

Surviving first hit means stealth focused jets will have no where to run from faster more agile dog fighters.

Big a*s jet powerful engines (New gen) is where tiger focus must be. With 3D thrust vectoring, Metallurgical innovation for higher stress jet material, AI copilot are what we must completely focus on.

How long people really think stealth will work before radars overtake stealth innovation? US already tested completely AI driven jets. Will stealth even be needed if there is no pilot? A stronger, faster smaller jet powered by AI will be 100X capable than a human pilot without physical limitations related to G-force acceleration.

We are already late into stealth game. We need to develop it but not focus on it as we are playing catch up. Instead we need to move ahead so other countries play catch up to us. strategic planning is necessary.

It's good that we are developing the technology but we now need to apply it to the jet. We need to start manufacturing the AMCA prototype as soon as possible so that we can increase our squadron numbers and strengths.

Okay, then when we will be seeing the overspec, overhype and over delay prototype of AMCA???🤔🧐???

Very true👍
Low band UHF and VHF and a powerful infrared radar can detect f22, f35, j20 and many more...
Stealth tech is made to counter mostly X band radar...
Sooner or later with ai and super advance chips that is capable of quantum entanglement can combine low band, midband and high band signal to mimic as just one frequency.., as I heard it in a video long way back 5yrs ago about the explanation of quantum science... Too much mumbo jumbo wording but sooner with enough innovation we will might see this to other countries but not from India....we are only very good at programming mostly but we wasting our talents in engineering that's why they prefer to be in foreign land as it's citizens 😹😹😹😹

With the new technology development of AMCA Tejas MK1B need to be developed
MUST develop MK1B Tejas on GE-F414 engines, using Tejas-Naval designs of "LREX-Canards" for Excellent low speed handling and enhanced dog fighting aerial manouvering capabilities...

Do not even quantum entanglement.
Radars within 2 years will have atleast 2X transistors for same size.
They will be hugely more powerful.
It will become exponentially tougher for jets to evade radars.

Same thing had happened during initial lifecycle of planes during World war. Suddenly after invention of radar, jets had become vulnerable. Jets adapted by focusing on speed and maneuverability.

"Stealth" is nothing but current limitations in radar tech which will be overcome in next 10 years.
