In a significant move to enhance public safety and ensure rigorous monitoring of high-risk offenders, Budgam police have affixed a GPS tracking anklet on Mudasir Fayaz, an accused terrorist associate. Acting on the directions of a competent court, this action underscores the commitment of law enforcement to curb terrorist activities in the region.

Mudasir Fayaz is accused of aiding terrorists in the valley, a charge related to case FIR No: 150 of 2022 under sections 18, 23, 38, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and 7/25 of the Arms Act, according to an official from the Police Station Chadoora.

The official highlighted that the use of GPS tracking gadgets in such high-profile cases is a testament to the proactive measures taken by law enforcement agencies to maintain public safety. These devices provide authorities with the ability to meticulously monitor the movements of high-risk offenders, significantly reducing the likelihood of further criminal activities.

“The installation of the GPS tracking anklets on the accused ensures that their movements can be tracked in real-time,” the official added. “This technology allows for the monitoring of their entry into prohibited areas and ensures compliance with geographical boundaries set by the court.”

The deployment of GPS tracking devices marks a new era in the management of offenders, leveraging technology to enforce legal boundaries and protect the public. By ensuring continuous surveillance, the authorities aim to prevent any attempts by the accused to engage in further unlawful activities.

This move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts and enhance the security framework within the valley. The real-time tracking capability of GPS anklets provides a robust mechanism for law enforcement agencies to respond swiftly to any violations, thereby maintaining a secure environment for the community.
