Govt Allocates Rs 48,614 Crore for Advanced Aircraft and Aero Engines in Defence Budget, Enhancing IAF Capabilities Amidst Dwindling Squadrons

In a move aimed at bolstering India's air power, the government has earmarked a substantial Rs 48,614 crore in the upcoming defence budget specifically for the acquisition and development of advanced aircraft and aero engines. This investment underscores a commitment to modernizing the Indian Air Force (IAF) amidst concerns over its dwindling fighter squadrons.

The allocation reflects a two-pronged strategy: procuring cutting-edge aircraft and fostering self-reliance in critical engine technology. This aligns with the 'Make in India' initiative, promoting domestic manufacturing and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers.

The funds are expected to support various projects, including the acquisition of new fighter jets like the Rafale and the indigenous Tejas, upgrades to existing aircraft, and research and development of engines for future platforms. This investment is crucial for maintaining the IAF's operational readiness and technological edge.

This budgetary commitment is anticipated to stimulate the Indian aerospace industry, generate employment opportunities, and potentially position India as a global player in the defence market. However, realizing these goals will necessitate overcoming challenges such as procurement delays, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems, and managing costs.

As India navigates these complexities, this allocation signifies a crucial step towards strengthening its air defence capabilities and achieving self-reliance in defence technology.

GTRE+Indian pvt firm and Safran should jointly develop 95 KN, 115 KN and 135 KN engines for Indian fighter jet program !

46000 crore for airpraft procurement, development and aero engine is like peanuts, MRFA itself will cost 2 lakh crore, Additional tejas another 70000 crore, Aero engine deal will cost not less than 25000 crore.

Safran (France) has been in partnership with India before on the Kaveri and still not a workable engine all these years later. Maybe India would be better to partner with South Korea on the engine for the KF-21. Which is the same size....

This allocation is a commitment from Indian government to support Indigenious Aeroengine for Tejas AMCA TEDBF UCAV programmers and Advanced fighter aircrafts fighter jets.
As work progresses additional funds may come as per the progress of project.
What is required is ADA DRDO HAL and Private companies should work in project mode and give the product in time not end up in R and D.

This allocation of funds is seriously of no use and just like jeera in camel's mouth and I really feel shame on such a bad status of affairs in India in it's defence. It is already very much clear to everyone that India has to increase its defence budget to at least 3+% to be any meaningful to put some good defence. It should have been done long ago,say in 2016-17, and by this time India would have a more better defence forces then what they are today and seriously struggling to come to terms. The biggest irony is that, knowing very well of the situation and facts, it seems there is no urgency or any good signs coming from our government. So merely giving 6 or say 10 billion dollars is purely inadequate. My question to the government is how long we can go like this was. The only way to put some formidable defence forces is to provide 3+ % defence budget of our GDP and keep that level for many years say10 years to get the desired results

Concentrate on drones they are evolving very fast soon fighters will be used less in strong air defence systems. How many Russian fighters operating in war or in Ukraine area.

China tested swarn drones with large scale and Russia clouding Ukraine sky with drones and not fighters. We need fighters but more drones then ever. Even our civil defence system need large scale of drones. Like police border security and national security people.

Meaning, India allocated close to 50,000 crores to the foreign jet and jet engine manufacturers.

Wow, India's love to keep foreign defence industrial complex flourishing, knows no bounds at all.

I'm all tears out of joy ....
