India's New MPATGM Anti-Tank Weapon Passes Key Trials, Ready for Final User Evaluation Stage

India's domestically developed Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) has successfully undergone a rigorous series of field trials, proving its effectiveness and clearing a major hurdle towards its induction into the Indian Army.

Developed by the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), the MPATGM system is intended to bolster India's anti-tank capabilities. The recent trials at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in Rajasthan demonstrated the missile's impressive performance and its advanced warhead's ability to defeat modern armor-protected tanks.

These trials mark a significant step towards the weapon's adoption by the Army, as it validates its compliance with the force's operational requirements. The MPATGM is a versatile system, boasting day/night and top-attack capabilities, along with a sophisticated dual-mode seeker that enhances its precision in targeting armored vehicles.

Raksha Mantri (Defense Minister) Shri Rajnath Singh hailed the successful trials, emphasizing the importance of self-reliance in advanced defense technology. Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Dr. Samir V Kamat also commended the teams involved in the MPATGM's development.

With these trials completed, the MPATGM now progresses to the final user evaluation stage, bringing it one step closer to active service in India's armed forces.

Let's see, how our IA procurement team will handle this.
