Kerala Man's Fate Unknown After Iran Seizes Ship, Family Calls for Government Intervention

As conflict escalates between Israel and Iran, concerns rise over the safety of Indian workers in the region. While Indian construction workers in Israel have been assured protection by Israeli officials, the family of an Indian sailor is anxiously awaiting news after his ship was seized by Iranian forces.

Shyamnath, a second engineer aboard the Israeli-linked cargo ship 'MSC Aries', is among 17 Indian crew members detained after the vessel was seized in the Strait of Hormuz. His parents, Vishwanathan and Shyamala, are distraught after learning of the incident via a call from the shipping company.

"We are going through tough times…we have great concerns about the safety of our son," Mr. Vishwanathan stated. Shyamnath, from the Velliparamba district of Kerala, has worked on the 'MSC Aries' for a decade.

The family is clinging to hope that diplomatic efforts by the Indian government will secure Shyamnath's release. Official sources indicate that India has contacted Iranian authorities, urging the safe and swift return of the Indian crew members.
