L&T and DRDO Co-Develop Zorawar Light Tank with Unique Design, Dispelling K9 Vajra Chassis Rumors

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has clarified that the Zorawar light tank, currently under development in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), will not be based on the chassis or hull of the K9 Vajra howitzer, contrary to earlier speculations.

JD Patil, Advisor to CEO and MD for L&T Defence Business and New Age Smart Technology Businesses, emphasized that the Zorawar will feature a completely new design, highlighting the joint effort and expertise of both L&T and DRDO in armored vehicle development.

While the tank's engine and transmission system will be imported, L&T reaffirms the commitment to indigenously manufacture the majority of the tank's equipment, aligning with the national drive for self-reliance in defence production.

The Zorawar light tank, specifically designed for agility and mobility in challenging terrains, is poised to significantly bolster the Indian Army's capabilities, especially in mountainous regions. This project signifies a major advancement for India's defence industry, showcasing the collaborative capabilities of L&T and DRDO in cutting-edge armored vehicle technology.

Open-source information reveals that the Zorawar project is on the fast track, with the tank expected to undergo rigorous trials in diverse environments, including summer trials in high temperatures. Upon successful trials, the Indian Army plans to induct a substantial number of these tanks, further strengthening its armored divisions.

This clarification by L&T not only dispels rumors about the Zorawar's design but also underscores the significant collaboration between L&T and DRDO in bolstering India's defence capabilities through indigenous innovation.

Yeah man, they don't listen at all.
I'd personally adviced them to use copper for the chassis since copper's virtue with purification are documented in the Ayurvedas. Using copper would have had considerable benifits for the digestive system of the tank's crewmates.

Why import engines and transmission??? Tata Mahindra can't make one?

Even brass can also be looked at.
