Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a leading Indian engineering conglomerate, is strengthening its presence in the nation's aerospace and defence industry by contributing to key indigenous programs.

The company's involvement ranges from the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) to potential roles in future platforms like the Tejas Mk2 and Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), highlighting its commitment to India's self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

L&T has a long-standing partnership with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), providing crucial components like wings for the Tejas LCA. The company's expertise in precision engineering and manufacturing has been instrumental in ensuring the successful production and operational readiness of the Tejas fleet. Now, L&T is looking to expand its role by supplying components for the next generation of Indian fighter jets, the Tejas Mk2 and the AMCA.

L&T's ambitions extend beyond defence, with the company actively exploring opportunities in the aerospace and commercial space sectors. It has played a vital role in India's space program, collaborating with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on projects like the Gaganyaan manned space mission and various satellite launch vehicles. With the global demand for commercial satellites and reusable launch systems increasing, L&T is well-positioned to capitalize on this growing market.

India's rapidly expanding aerospace and defence market presents significant opportunities for private sector players like L&T. The government's "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" initiative, which emphasizes self-reliance, and policy reforms such as increased foreign direct investment (FDI) limits in defence, are further propelling the industry's growth. L&T is leveraging these opportunities to enhance its capabilities, establish international partnerships, and tap into global markets.

Private sector must be completely utilised for manufacturing defence products. Many of them will be able to do what HAL can't do.

I hope they do...LT has a reputation of building quality product and delivering things in time unlike some others that just keeps making bombastic claims and delivers nothing.

That paint scheme for the Tejas MK2 render is kind of hot...Can we do something like that rather than the constantly stripped paint on Tejas MK1 from the aero tape lol

Why's India struggling with the production of AMCA? Some are claiming that it doesn't meet the full potential of 5th gen category fighter and that it's just another 4.5 gen fighter. I think other countries will already have 6th gen fighters before India could complete the development of AMCA.

The current lot of LCA mk 1 supplied to IAF by HAL has serious airframe issues such as skin not flushing, screws/rivets improperly fitted/drilled, no ICY of panels etc. L&T has to take care of such precision issues in their airframe assemblies. HAL has to be held accountable, which they are not
