New Member Introductions: Let's Get to Know Each Other

I am a senior citizen. I passed out in mechanical engineering in the year 1965. I served for 31 years at Bhila Steel Plant and rose to a reasonably senior position. Of late I have developed taste in knowing about the development on Kaveri engine.

Hi! This is Satindra Chakrabarti from Canada. No matter where we live - for me it's a long time, since 1996 - our roots are there. Did schooling in Ballygunge Govt.H.School, Calcutta and then Bach.of Mech.Engg. from Jadavpur (also Calcutta) and lived in Gujarat for 10 years, I speak 4 languages including Bangla. Je ne parle pas très bien français, mais je comprends un peu (meaning, "I can't speak in French very well, but understand a little bit")

Hi Guys,

I'm Doc, an ex-Air Force fighter-pilot and flying/ground instructor who retired some 30 years ago (1995) after 31 years in uniform.
My flying was cut short in 1991 on account of a heart-attack.
Did a few missions over then E. Pakistan in support of the creation of Bangladesh. Same guys are anti us now !!

Being second-generation Air Force, flying and things 'airborne' have always caught my interest and passion.

Please do NOT mis-understand me if my comments do sound a bit critical !!!!!!!!
No offence.
Hope for some interesting interaction.

Hi guys, I am a naval veteran and wholeheartedly support India's push for Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat (आत्मनिर्भर भारत). I strongly believe that No foreign defence supplier will ever part with any critical technology and thus Bharat has to stand on its own strengths. Delays in GE F 141 jet engines of US origin French refusal to share Rafael system software are just some of the cases in point. The good news is that whenever Bharat is pushed to the wall by denial curbs, it has found alternative route through inhouse innovations and R&D. In most cases, what Bharat produces indigenously, is not only world class but more often than not, it is better than the best in the market. This gives me great satisfaction and sense of pride. And that is why I am here.

Hello,
I completed my graduation and postgraduaton in Mechanical Ebginneing from IIT, Bombay. I was a member of the core design team of LCA (Tejas) and worked as a system designer at HAL ,Bangalore. This was between 1982 to 2001, covering the full development life cycle of a fighter aircraft, right from RFP (Request for proposal) from IAF to the first flight of the aircraft, i. e. LCA.

I was responsible for developing and testing microprocessor based anti skid brake system and nose wheel steering for the LCA.

The brake system was tested extensively on Dynamometer, a test rig where aircraft landing is simulated.

These are the first systems to be tested, after the engine run up, on the runway.

In addition to these, I was actively associated with flight controls and hydraulic systems of the aircraft.

Only a few people will realise, how much efforts have gone in designing and validating world class ground test facilities as a part of the development of LCA. In fact, confident with which people are talking about development about LCA Mk II and AMCA is due to the experience and availability of ground test facilities and an indigenous platform with proven utility systems of LCA.
