The Russian Su-57 stealth fighter, a highly anticipated entry in the world of advanced military aviation, has made its international debut at the Zhuhai Airshow 2024.

This marks the first time the aircraft, known as "Felon" by NATO, has been showcased outside of Russia, signaling a potential push by Moscow to promote its fifth-generation fighter on the global stage.

Piloted by the renowned test pilot Sergey Bogdan, the Su-57 is expected to perform a series of demonstrations highlighting its maneuverability and advanced technology.

Bogdan, a legendary figure in Russian aviation, has been intimately involved in the Su-57's development and testing, making him the ideal choice to showcase the aircraft's capabilities to a global audience.

The Su-57 is Russia's answer to the growing demand for fifth-generation fighter aircraft, designed to compete with platforms like the American F-22 and F-35.

Developed by Sukhoi, the aircraft boasts a combination of stealth technology, super-maneuverability, and advanced avionics, making it a formidable force in modern aerial combat.

The Zhuhai Airshow provides a strategic platform for Russia to demonstrate the Su-57's capabilities to potential international partners. This debut has sparked considerable interest within the Indian defence community, with many hoping to see the Su-57 make an appearance at Aero India 2025 in Bangalore.

India, a long-standing defence partner of Russia, has been closely monitoring the Su-57's development. As India seeks to modernize its Air Force with advanced fighter technology, the Su-57's potential presence at Aero India could be a major draw. It could also stimulate further collaboration within the Indian defence ecosystem, which has a history of partnering with Russia on various military programs.

An appearance at Aero India would be a significant diplomatic and strategic move by Russia, underscoring the strong defence ties between the two nations. For India, which is exploring both indigenous fifth-generation fighter development (the AMCA program) and potential acquisitions, the Su-57 offers valuable insights into Russia's latest advancements in aerospace technology.

While India has not yet committed to acquiring the Su-57, a live demonstration of its capabilities could further incentivize technology transfers or joint development projects, particularly in areas like stealth and super-maneuverability that are crucial for the future of the Indian Air Force.

However, it is worth noting that the Su-57 has faced some criticism in recent years, particularly regarding its production timeline and the integration of its advanced Izdeliye 30 engine. Despite these challenges, the aircraft's appearance at Zhuhai signifies Russia's continued investment in its development and its intent to position the Su-57 as a leading contender in the global fighter jet market.

If Rafale is not available for MRFA, SU57 will only compliment AMCA, not gonna take away anything from the project. It's actually 4.9 generation, a newbie only call it a 5th gen aircraft.

IF Sukhoi team resolve 43+ improvements over Su-57 asked by India , We should re consider FGFA/PMF development program !

It can come. But we won’t be buying it. IAF chief is on record saying we won’t be buying Su57.
Bro Former IAF chief definitely had said that we will not buy 5th Gen from abroad but at the same time you also needs to pay attention to the former IAF chief BS, dhanoa & Indian NSA Ajit doval in 2018 in which they mentioned n i quote currently we are out of the FGFA/Su57 joint development project but later on if our required parameters for Su57 will be met as per our expectations then we will not hesitate to order some off the shelf few squadrons for the same in the later on period although MRCA deal wise Su57 might not bi selected but possibility still exist to order 2 or 3 squadrons if situations demand so..
