Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), a subsidiary of India's Tata Group, is establishing a new manufacturing facility in Casablanca, Morocco, to produce the WhAP 8×8 armored vehicle.
This facility, with an annual production capacity of 100 units, is poised to become a key export hub for Tata, serving other African markets with the "Made in Morocco" WhAP 8×8.
Morocco has already placed orders for 150 WhAP 8×8 vehicles, demonstrating its confidence in the platform's capabilities. This initial order, along with the establishment of the production facility, underscores Morocco's commitment to the WhAP 8×8 and its potential as a valuable asset for their military and security forces.
The WhAP 8×8 is an eight-wheeled armored vehicle known for its versatility and all-terrain mobility. Its advanced features and robust design make it suitable for a variety of roles. Morocco is also considering procuring a 105mm cannon variant of the WhAP, further expanding its potential applications.
This strategic move by Tata aligns with its vision of expanding its global footprint and contributing to the growth of local defence industries. The establishment of the TASL facility in Morocco marks a significant milestone in India’s defence exports and demonstrates the growing global demand for Indian-made military equipment.
Production of the WhAP 8×8 in Morocco is expected to commence within 18 months, highlighting the rapid implementation of this project. This initiative not only strengthens the defence ties between India and Morocco but also positions Tata as a key player in the African defence market.
