India and Vietnam are nearing the finalization of a major defence deal for the acquisition of the BrahMos missile system, valued at approximately USD 700 million. Sources suggest that the agreement could be signed within the next two months, as both nations are actively working to finalize procedural and technical details.

According to sources, the Vietnamese Defence Ministry has already reviewed and discussed the initial techno-commercial proposal shared by BrahMos Aerospace (BAPL). Vietnam is currently awaiting the draft agreement, which will include specifics such as the total deal value, delivery timelines, and payment terms, before proceeding with the formal signing.

This deal represents a significant milestone in India-Vietnam defence cooperation and is expected to include orders for the BrahMos missile system from both the Vietnamese Army and Navy. The BrahMos, renowned for its precision strike capabilities, offers several strategic advantages, including supersonic speed, a range exceeding 400 km, and versatility for deployment on land, sea, and air platforms.

The agreement is also expected to include India's willingness to share advanced defence technologies with Vietnam, along with associated infrastructure and training support. This collaboration could pave the way for future joint ventures, such as co-development of next-generation missile systems or localized production in Vietnam, further bolstering Vietnam's defence industry.

The BrahMos missile system, a joint venture between India's DRDO and Russia's NPO Mashinostroyenia, has garnered significant international interest. Its export potential has been a key focus for India, aligning with the government's "Make in India" initiative and its ambition to expand its presence in the global arms market. This potential deal with Vietnam underscores the growing prominence of the BrahMos missile system and India's emergence as a major defence exporter.

MTCR range for non signatories is capped at around 290km! Vietnam is not an MTCR member, whereas Bharat is since 2016, so the range of Brahmos will be capped!

True, the range for exports when it comes to any ballistic/cruise missiles would be capped at 300Km.

Its good enough for them to decimate Sanya base. It can be launched from within their shores

This will enhance Vietnams firepower by a huge margin. It will now worry China as they can’t just transgress into their territory and sea whenever they feel like it.
